If your kicker is inconsistent on his field goals it means you're in trouble and might be forced to go for two when you really don't want to.
Will really come into place during the winter months.

I would go for the extra point each time, but if you miss it then I think you have to go for two on your next attempt to even things up. It is kind of like what I try to do, doubling up, when I lose a hand of black jack in the casino.....like that really works.

i wouldn't do that just for the sake of it. don't chase the score if you don't have to IMO.

My idea, crazy as it sounds, would be to devalue FG's by distance. I know that sounds crazy. You have to admit that the league is stressing points, and TOUCHDOWNS. If 1-30 yards is worth 3, 31-45 2, and 45+ only 1, more teams would actually go for it on 4th down once they are inside the 35. I think it would be great to reward the D for not letting the opposing team cross the 40 yard line!

This is how my fantasy football league works. You get a -1 if you miss less than a thirty yarder, one point for a 30-39 yarder, two points for a 40-49 yarder, and four points for a 50+ yarder.

Yeah good point. I know there seems to be a strategy or book that indicates when you should try to go for two when you are behind, and usually coaches don't try this until the fourth quarter. Makes sense to me.

If the kicker we select for this season sucks, we can always call on Miller (Time!) to run it in for a two-point conversion (over and again). Or then again, maybe not- way too dicey.

The coaches will probably play the percentages after they get enough info.
However if you miss a kick early then you probably go for two next time just like in years past.

Franks, hands down!!

But, i have seen that philbin is all about vets and unless every rep you get is other wordly, the vet is getting the nod. And sometimes thats good, other times, like this, its not so good. Like griese said, there are many teams right now just waiting for miami to release franks.
And he is right.

It appears philbin will be handing off a prize rookie who has big time leg and can actually make kicks over 40 yds with consistancy. It would suck mass azz to see him in a jet, bills or pats uni.

Franks. Let Sturgis move on.In fact kick Sturgis to the curb.

Franks. Though I do think the anti-sturgis movement here is pretty extreme. I'll never understand how if Ireland felt compelled to draft a kicker, he'd choose sturgis over Hopkins. Never made sense to me. I don't think it was too good an idea either way but too late now. I'd rather continue to distance ourselves from that inadequate scouting dept and roll the dice with Franks.
