DAVIE, Fla. - The Miami Dolphins have had one of the league's best defenses for six consecutive seasons. They have produced 20 Pro Bowl selections, including 17 in the last four seasons, and are one of only two teams ranked in the top 10 in total defense every year since 1998. And now, maybe more than ever with the loss of Ricky Williams and David Boston, the Dolphins will rely on their usually staunch defense to win games.

They are impressive statistics but they dont meam much if its not attached to playoff wins.Other teams with great defenses such as Baltimore.TB Bucs,Carolina have backed up their rep with playoff wins.(And sometimes carried the team which hasnt happened with the Fins)

yeah but those teams also had O's that could run some time off the clock too. Miami's D stayed on the field way to long...

As great as the D has been statistically for the last 6 years, they sure haven't played like it during some really important games or at crucial points in some games (the Monday night game against the Jets, or in NE with the division title on the line in the last game of the season). This year will be a real test. They'll have to step up and steal some games and I think they will.
