Vince Carter staying with the Nets

Its not a bad deal money wise, but I think we all now realize the magnificent trio is not going to lead the Nets to the promised land. So why prolong the mediocrity? Let Kidd go to a contender and see if Wright and Williams are the future. Now the Nets are stuck for the next couple years with the same team, with the stars a year older and on the wrong side of 30.

How are they prolonging mediocrity? They made it to the playoffs and almost beat the Cavs without thier best post player Nenad Krystic all year. This year they get him back with newly added Sean Williams,a more experienced Josh Boone and hopefully Mikki Moore comes back after a great season. Jefferson is still only 27 with Carter coming off his best season in a while and Jason Kidd is well he's still Jason Kidd and still going strong. Then you have Wright and Marcus Williams coming off the bench in the backcourt, providing good bench players.

around .500 and one and done is mediocrity.

This deal insures that the Nets will have the same team for the next 3 years at least. That is not good.

Because Williams struggled big time last year and was lost while on the court. Kidd will be here until Williams proves he can lead the team, plus Kidd is the face of the team and they want him when they move to brooklyn.

RJ will be traded for some needed inside help.

The kid they drafted could be a steal if he keeps his nose clean

They beat the Raptors in the first round..so no they weren't one and done and as i said they were missing Krystic who's our best post player and we've added Sean Williams another piece to our frontcourt. who says that isn't enough to make it to the next step, they almost beat the Cavs with 2 games coming down to the last shot. Unless they were to add a Duncan or a Shaq. no other player they could get in free agency is going to make them a better team then they are going to have, now they have a trio of stars mixed with a young talented frontcourt and pretty good depth.

They don't need any inside help really. As you said Williams has potential to be a huge steal and remember they were missing Kystic all year and he's thier best inside man. If they resign Mikki Moore combined with a more expierenced Boone who showed potential at the end of last year, they should be set in the frontcourt.

So you consider this team a championship contender? This isn't the NFL where you can pick a third of the teams in the league and make solid arguments for their championship potential. If this team somehow managed to luck out and make a run like Cleveland did they would meet the same fate. And unlike Cleveland, they don't have the growth of a young superstar to look foward to. Its one thing to morgage your future for Shaq and championship contention, but for Vince?

You won one and then you were done. that is what one and done means.

otherwise, I would have said..."first round meat."

New Jersey isn't good enough to win the East let alone make it to the Conference Finals. Signing VC to this deal assures them the same fate until they pick up more players that are better then what they have right now

They are looking to deal RJ. The 3 will be broken up soon. They ahve been discussing a Jermaine O'Neal deal w/ Indiana w/ RJ as the main attraction in the deal.

They need tough inside help, believe me!
