What's up with O-Gun?!?!?!

Isn't it funny how 2 people can disagree so vehemently on one subject (see Fiedler threads) and be 100% on the same page on another?

Because you don't apply the same logic to the O-Gun situation, as I do to both the O-Gun and Fiedler situations. I don't have a personal dislike for either player.

But I'm not necessarily saying that I'd move him to RDE. I think he could/should stay on the left side. He plays the run really well. And while he does benefit from JT, he also creates his own havoc. And JT benefits from him as well.

But I do feel that he's shown himself to be more than half the player JT is. And JT does seem to get more sacks when better players are opposite him.

2000 - Trace Armstrong - 16.5, JT - 14.5
2001 - Mixon/Bromell - 8.5, JT - 8.5
2002 - Ogunleye - 9.5, JT - 18.5
2003 - Ogunleye - 15, JT - 13

Mixon and Bromell really didn't do much opposite JT. And Bromell got a lot of his sacks inside. But Trace and Wale are far better players. And JT's production as well as theirs seem to back that up.

JT has unquestionably taken his game to another level the last few years. He's definitely elite. But I just think that Wale is arriving. And they make a great tag team. Best DE duo in the league. Would love to see it continue.

Trace Armstrong with JT:
1997 Miami Dolphins 5.5
1998 Miami Dolphins 10.5
1999 Miami Dolphins 7.5
2000 Miami Dolphins 16.5

Rich Owens with JT:
1999 Miami Dolphins 8.5
2000 Miami Dolphins 0.5

Lorenzo Bromell with JT:
1998 Miami Dolphins 8
1999 Miami Dolphins 5
2000 Miami Dolphins 2
2001 Miami Dolphins 6.5

Kenny Mixon with JT:
1998 Miami Dolphins 2
1999 Miami Dolphins 0
2000 Miami Dolphins 2.5
2001 Miami Dolphins 2

JT Sack #'s
1997 Miami Dolphins 5
1998 Miami Dolphins 9
1999 Miami Dolphins 2.5
2000 Miami Dolphins 14.5
2001 Miami Dolphins 8.5
2002 Miami Dolphins 18.5
2003 Miami Dolphins 13

As you can see in 1998 opposite JT at the LDE position there were 20.5 sacks that year. In 1999 there were 21 sacks at the LDE position.

Unless you have a steel trap for memory how do you know Bromell got most of his sacks from the inside? I sure as heck can't remember that. Even if he did, he was still in there because a sack specialist in Armstrong came in on passing downs.

So you think we can pay both DE's such large contracts and still keep players like Chambers and McMichael? I sure don't. He either signs for the right price, or simply have to replace him with a few players so we can keep some offensive players.

I think those are awfully broad strokes, man. Don't you think it possible that somebody could take a different stance on Fiedler without it all being about that person hating Fiedler? I know there are Jay haters out there, but I'm really not certain that you're hitting the target with this guy at this point.

We do all have our own prejudices and perceptions that have an impact on the way we view things, after all.

No, IMO he is a JAY hater, no doubt. He's one of those guys that seem to do their best to slam him every chance he gets. In short he seems to enjoy it way too much. I don't know how any Dolphins fan could take such pleasure in what has taken place with Jay over the last 4-years. Some can ignore that all they want to, I haven't been able to, sorry. IMO I don't see anything humorous in slamming a Dolphins player as often as these guys do. Everyone makes an off the wall comment about a Dolphins player from time to time, but not like these guys. You know?

As guys who do their best to defend Jay when we can, do you like being labeled a "Fee Fee Lover"? I know where he stands on the issue of Jay Fiedler, but he went out of his way to agree with the noob who made the entry about how Jay is a competitor and it isn't about Jay personally. That's just not hater material if you ask me, and I think saying it does leads to guys who step up to defend unfair criticisms of Jay being painted with the same sort of broad stroke.

My blood boils when I see some of the crap the Jay haters bring up. Today, somebody posted a bad photoshop job of Dave and Jay doing the Titanic poster pose. Earlier this week, others made unfair comments about a picture. To my knowledge, we're not talking about a guy who engaged in that crap.

This thing with Ogunleye is just buisness. He has no option to sit out. I think that he is telling the truth when he says he want to play in Miami. Some teammates are backing him up right now and I think they go through similar processes so they will have no resentment towards him.

Oh yeah 1st Post and counting.

Hey thanks for sticking up for me JJ. This my last post about Fiedler. (AS per my post on another thread)
I am not a quote "Feidler hater". Never met him nothing about him personally. *** Jimmy mentioned I have stuck for Jay before, when it id warrated. The guy is tough, he is a competitor and I am sure he wants to win as bad as the next guy. But as far a being as good as you think he is, I just simply don't see it. I don't think this team can win the SB with as the guy. If that makes me a Feidler hater than so be it. All I want is for this team to be successful and win. In my lifetime as a sports fan not one of my favorite pro teams has ever won it all, (Miami Dolphins, Ottawa Senators, Chicago Cubs,) If Jay has a breakout year this season and we win the SB because of his heroics I will be the first one on here saying I was wrong.
You know, just because someone has a different opinion then yours doesn't make him a hater or evil person or whatever. Just different strokes for different folks man.
In the end we are all Dolfans and want the same for this team.

Your right about Fiedler! In close games he chokes i.e. week 1 Houston. All he had to do was control the clock but instead when the game was on the line he throws a pick.
Classic Jay moment!!! O-GUN wants what he deserves nothin more so lets support him!!!

How many of you guys think that Wale could put up double digit sack #'s without JT on the other side. I personnally think that he is more than capable. JT is obviously a great player, but sometimes I think you guys give him too much credit for the success of others around him.

It's b/c JT is a grit guy but O-GUN I believe is more than capable to get double digt sacks if he was w/o JT b/c of his technique and motor!!!

If Walle sits, he will undermine his future with any team. He has this year to prove to any other team(s) that may be interested in him that he can play. Sitting out 10 games will not win him a contract anywhere. Unfortunately his agent is willing to let him play that card.
