Everywhere I look...on this site and in the press...everyone wants to nickname him. Can't he just be Ryan Tannehill?

Football doesn't always have to be cute.

None of these nicknames will carry over anyways, all of them have been lame and the only one that sounds good is his actual name.

How about Tanne "Chill" as in Cool under pressure. Maybe he can get in on some commercials with Ice Cube and Coors.

I also like Tanne "Thrill". Sounds like a Boomer nickname.

Its just people having fun and being excited about finally finding a QB, in their own way. No harm done.

In response, for the defense of people coming up with nicknames:

    Tanny Miami
    Tan the Man
    Real Deal Tannehill
    Tannethrill
    Tannechill
    RT17
    RT the First

Although useless to use a nickname for him, it is fun. People are excited to have a potential stud at QB. Let it be.

.....because we finally have a franchise QB and his name is Tan the Man. We're allowed to be excited, I won't apologize for it. We've waited long enough.

Same people were excited about Henne! Still don't see why we have to have 45788 threads playing make believe.

Most of his nicknames are short...which means people are lazy and don't want to spell Tannehill...too difficult for some reason.

Well, the OL needs to clean it up because if he keeps taking the shots he took last week then he might be called:

Tan the black and blue Man or
    Tan flat as frying pan.

I am just glad that LANGER72's Hennehill nickname back in March is not relevant now.

    Ryan "No nickname necessary" Tannehill.

It seems like people's brains can't handle QB names with more than four syllables.

    ≤ 4; no pun nicknames:
    Joe Flacco
    Joe Montana
    Dan Marino
    Cam Newton
    Tom Brady
    Mark Sanchez
    Kevin Kolb
    Tony Romo
    Matt Schaub
    Andy Dalton
    Brandon Weeden
    Peyton Manning
    Andrew Luck
    Jake Locker
    Matt Cassel
    Carson Palmer
    Phillip Rivers
    Eli Manning
    Michael Vick
    Jay Cutler
    Matthew Stafford
    Aaron Rodgers
    Christian Ponder
    Matt Ryan
    Drew Brees (OMG TWO SYLLABLES)
    Josh Freeman
    Sam Bradford
    Russel Wilson
    Tim Tebow
    Alex Smith
    Blaine Gabbert

    >4; nickname required to bring it down to 4 or fewer:
Ryan Fitzpatrick --> Ryan Fitz; Fitzy
Robert Griffin The Third ---> RG3; Baylor Bob
Ben Roethlisberger --> Big Ben; Rapelisburger
    Ryan Tannehill --> OGM TANNEKILL
