Why isn't the AFC Championship game....

I think it rotates every year. Since realignment in 2002...

2002 early game: NFC (Bucs-Eagles), late game AFC (Titans-Raiders)
2003 early game: AFC (Colts-Patriots), late game NFC (Panthers-Eagles)
2004 early game: NFC (Falcons-Eagles), late game AFC (Patriots-Steelers)
2005 early game: AFC (Steelers-Broncos), late game NFC (Panthers-Hawks)
2006 early game: NFC (Saints-Bears), late game AFC (Patriots-Colts)

so unless this is a huge coincidence, it goes on rotation.

I never noticed that but thinking back it's been that way since '95 but from at least '90-'94 the NFC game was always the late game
