Commentary: Dolphins' Saban should pass on Brees

Mr. Stoda, what you've just written is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent commentary were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

A simple "no" would have sufficed(I believe the quote is)

amazing what passes for journalism these days. i'm pretty sure that guy woke up in the monring, decided he wanted to play 36 holes, banged out 1000 words in 12 minutes 28 seconds, ran spell check, and faxed it in.

Why is that? These people have jobs because they have unique opinions and have a way of expressing them in print. They do not have jobs because they say the same thing all the fans say or what those same fans want to hear.

Personaly, I do not agree. Though I would MUCH prefer Culpepper I would be more than happy to sign Brees, he is the best game managing quarterback in the league. However I see his point.

Sportswriters like STODA take a look at trends and then decide to play devil's advocate so they can "stir it up" and "create" a story. Case in point, 2 years ago Ricky quit and LeBatard (being Ricky's friend) defended him after everybiody ripped him, it gave LeBatard so much juice that it elevated him into nationsl prominence.

Stoda's no fool. If ESPN reported that at dinner with Brees last night Saban had Chocolate Ice Cream Stoda would ask, "Why not Vanilla?"

It's actually EASY to think like a sportswriter! You can do it. Just take an event or upcoming event in which there is a CONSENSUS (very important) opinion and then force yourself to sit down and write a dissenting opinion. While all the fans FLAME your column, they're also READING it and COMMENTING on it, maybhe if you're lucky your column is QUOTED elsewhere, and those are the things that matter to Sportswriters. The facts or their actual opinions on things come out eventually, but initially they like to stir it up.

Look for these idiots to start posting the following stories very soon:

BREES AND CULPEPPER TOO RISKY, SABAN SHOULD WAIT

SABAN WOULD BE WISE TO TRADE UP FOR JAY CUTLER

SABAN SHOULD CUT RICKY AND SAVE FACE

SABAN SHOULD RE-SIGN DAVID BOSTON, SETH McKINNEY

APPARENTLY FA CHARACTER NOT A CONCERN FOR SABAN

TIME FOR SABAN TO DEAL ZACH or JT FOR DRAFT PICKS

Mark my words, you'll see RIDICULOUS stories like these before April's draft and wonder what these guys are smoking. They're perfectly rationale and they are just pushing your buttons.

If most fans agree we SHOULD do something, the sportswriter will DISAGREE. It's in their nature.

Stoda is a buffoon like all of them.

Go PHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just wrote him. I suggested to him that the "silliest moron" at Finheaven had a better grasp of the quarterback position than him. He has always returned my mail so we will see.

I think there are a lot of Miami beat writers who do not like the dolphins. Lets face it, if we get Brees, the whole media will spin it as not a great move. You watch! The collective media hate the dolphins. BTW i did not read the piece, i can just imagine what it says. Just put Stoda right up there with the "others".

Actually, the article makes some sense. You don't grovel for a player and you don't ruin your salary structure for one player unless he is a once in a decade type player. Brees is solid, but he's not a superstar and you don't want to go into a bidding war with a poorly run, desperate team like the Saints.
Only a shortsighted fool would choose NO over Miami unless it was their hometown and had roots there.
If money is his only criteria, then I hope he joins the Saints. Both clubs will offer him lucrative deals, so he's set for life. However, he has greater chance of success with the Phins. That means more money in the long run with endorsements and playoff bonuses.
