You're On The Clock With The #1 Pick...

I thought you were pumped on this dude:

Tyree Jackson

6'7" (!!!)

249

and now...you're totally sold on a midget!?

:)

JK CK

Maybe not.

No I am.

PS: seriously -- doesn't it concern you just a li'l that this kid is a 1 season wonder -- and the "wonder" was against less than stellar Ds?

Add to that the 'Bama game and I don't see a dude ready to mix it up against pro level Ds.

Sure he's lots of fun. And I think his "game" has a lot of peeps on a sugar high -- especially those who crave a high fructose QB fix.

I just think he's very high risk on a number of levels...

But yea. Exciting. And yea potentially oodles of fun (sugar). But...

It's been literally 3 months. I think I'm a little bit beyond being dazzled and confused and on some sort of sugar high. I've seen every single snap of Oklahoma's offense in 2018. Have you?

Every quarterback that has ever been taken high is "high risk" because the position inherently comes with it a bust factor. Once it's clear that the QB doesn't have elite potential, his career tends to go down the tubes quickly, and then you've wasted both the asset it took to get him and the time you spent grooming him.

Yes, I'm comfortable with the guy. And you should take it as a given that every potential angle of criticism you can conceive, and many that perhaps you wouldn't think of, are things I have already considered and weighed (two or three months ago), and ultimately believe to either be invalid or significantly countered by his strengths.

He's an elite prospect at the position.

How would you rank these guys right now if they were all in this years draft

Murray
Tua
Fromm
Herbert

Well, you've already done it.

To be fair, Murray and Tua are close enough that technically the jury would still have to be out on that ordering until/unless I were to watch every snap of Bama this year like I have OU.

Good question!

Yes I have. In full speed. Half speed. And (get this) backwards!

Little known fact that otherwise subtle flaws show up rather glaringly in reverse action!

See the Beatles White Album as an example!

:)

Based on the rebuilding mode the team is supposedly in, I'd trade down as many times as I could, but try to stay in the top 25 in the first round to snag an impact player at a position of need. If some other team makes a stupid offer, I'll drop even lower. I'm one of those weirdos that wants to strengthen the trenches this year, and I think I can find someone at #25 that will play on day 1.

I want as many first-round picks in the 2020 draft as I can find. My goal is to transform this year's #1 pick from a single impact player into multiple impact players the following year. The risk that I'm passing up someone elite this year is real, but there are no guarantees with any player. I'm trading that potential/risk for breadth/reduced risk.
