Trade Scenarios / Prime Trade Spots, Etc.

Was just thinking about who would trade up or down and where they would target. Seems to me teams that cold look to trade up for a QB are.....

Raiders, Denver, Cincy, Washington and maybe even the Patriots. Most likely being Washington.

I think if the Redskins want to get a QB, they would have to jump Denver at 10 unless they want to go higher, in which case the Jets have let it be known they want to move down. The Redskins look like the only team picking behind Miami that would move up and it does little good to trade up to 13.

I don't really see many trade down scenarios for Miami unless A) a top 3 QB falls to 13 and the Redskins have not already traded up or...

B) a team like Oakland wants to use one of their lower picks at 24/27 to move up for a player.

Beyond that it would be a team who skipped a QB (ahead of us) in round 1 and wants to move back into the 1st round to get one with a lower pick.

I do think the Dolphins would trade out of the first round if they got a second day pick and a 1st next year.

Other ideas?

1 Arizona Cardinals
2 San Francisco 49ers
3 New York Jets
4 Oakland Raiders
5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
6 New York Giants
7 Jacksonville Jaguars
8 Detroit Lions
9 Buffalo Bills
10 Denver Broncos
11 Cincinnati Bengals
12 Green Bay Packers
13 Miami Dolphins
14 Atlanta Falcons
15 Washington Redskins
16 Carolina Panthers
17 New York Giants from Cleveland [R1 - 1]
18 Minnesota Vikings
19 Tennessee Titans
20 Pittsburgh Steelers
21 Seattle Seahawks
22 Baltimore Ravens
23 Houston Texans
24 Oakland Raiders from Chicago [R1 - 2]
25 Philadelphia Eagles
26 Indianapolis Colts
27 Oakland Raiders from Dallas [R1 - 3]
28 Los Angeles Chargers
29 Kansas City Chiefs
30 Green Bay Packers from New Orleans [R1 - 4]
31 Los Angeles Rams
32 New England Patriots

Give up the #13 for a day 2 pick and a first rd in 2020 - sign me up!!! The more draft capital in 2020 the better

The guy who I think is going to fall to the point that he'll be a tremendous value to someone is Dexter Lawrence.

If someone like Ed Oliver doesn't fall in Miami's lap? i'm trading back, then trading back again if I can into the 20s.

I agree on all points. If the New York Giants or Washington Redskins are looking to draft Jones either may be willing to trade with Miami to try and keep the other from drafting him? It could get interesting? Now if Miami does trade down with NY or Washington, New England may very well be will to trade up with Miami to get the a TE? They have some extra picks. But coming up from 32 to pick #15 or #17, I'd think would at least cost NE 2 or 3 draft choices? Perhaps a 2nd and 5th in 2019 and a 3rd/4th in 2020? Both the Giants and Washington, I'd think would have to give up at least a 4th in 2019 to get Miami's pick at #13?

In a perfect world that would be the perfect scenario, Trade down w Giants (17) or Skins (15) and get an extra 2nd or 3rd this year, then trade all the way down to 32 w the Pats and pick up a #1 form them for the 2020 season. I really would not like to give away picks this year just to get one or two next year. This years draft is loaded on the defensive side of the ball and with the right picks it could really set our defense up for a bright future.

If there was ever a draft to trade down in, the 2019 draft, could be the one? There's going to be starting caliber DL/OL players found into the 4th/5th round. I'm hopeful, Miami trades down several times, throughout the draft, picking up extra picks in both 2019 and 2020. These next 2 drafts IMHO are going to be the 2 defining moments for Ross and Grier. Make or break time is here.

The more I think about it and look at the rumors coming out, Miami may trade up for Haskins or Murray of he falls a little.

Signing Fitzpatrick screams drafting a qb this year.

Why does it scream that? Seems to me more like a vet signing so it doesn’t appear we are just mailing in the season. Especially younger players on the team who have something to play for

He’ll still be here next year too to help any rookie we bring in next year.

I agree.

I don't think Grier wants to pin his hopes on what may happen next year. If a QB comes into play for lets say a 3rd this year and a late pick the next, I think they're in. And I think he goes to sleep at night praying that one of the top 3 falls to him.

Fitzpatrick may not scream drafting a QB but it does highlight how bad our QB situation has been for decades. I know a few are excited about Fitz but, come on, it Ryan freaking Fitzpatrick we're about to trot out as our starter- Ryan on his 8th team Fitzpatrick.

We love playing GM but you guys are smart enough to know that you and I know absolutely nothing about the talent coming out of this draft and where they will be 3 years from now. What we do know is that the elephant in the franchise's metaphysical room is QB and the sooner you can address the elephant, the better.

I don't expect Grier to act desperately and I don't believe a 2nd or a 3rd this year- only 1 pick this year- is a desperate move. I also don't believe he'll sell the farm.

The more we discuss trade downs, the more I don't see a team needing/wanting to come up to 13. We keep emphasizing how deep this draft is so a trade down would be a best case scenario. If you look at it from the other side, if it is a deep draft, why are teams moving up to 13? But, anything can happen.

If it's not a QB at 13 I believe a trade down is the most prudent move but I don't see it as much as I don't see Grier passing on a QB if within reasonable reach.

Players aren't stupid. You don't sign Ryan Fitzpatrick to fool anyone into thinking you're going to go for the gold this season.

You sign him to have in front of a rookie at first then insert the rookie when he eventually falls apart.

Who do you think they would be fooling? The players can look around the locker room and come to the conclusion that this team is currently not that talented. If you listen to Gier’s presser awhile back, on the new direction the team is heading in, he said there would be pain associated with this rebuild. He said rebuild but it appears to me to be a tank for a Qb next year when the pickens will be more robust. They are not taking a quarterback in the 1st round this year and they definitely aren’t trading up to take one of these 3 QBs.

I mean I get your point, but i disagree. Signing Fitzpatrick doesn’t guarantee we are taking a qb early this year at all.

Quite frankly, this is a bad draft to be QB needy.

None of these QBs are legit guaranteed stars. Each seem to need the right fit. Not saying most don't, but this group seems to have a lot of "yea but" potential.

The Giants, Raiders and Haskins are becoming the wild cards.

Haskins could possibly fall. If that happens, the entire QB board gets interesting for teams.

If the Giants (6) and Raiders (4) pass on QB, the Giants could be serious players at #17 to trade up with us to leap frog Washington to get a QB.

I just feel these QBs are going to play out differently than most expect. And I also think there will be a value spot after the 1st to grab a QB for development.

IMO, this year is no different for QBs than the next two years. I would argue that Murray makes this year slightly better because he put Oklahoma on his shoulders and willed them to win.

That said, any QB we select will be "developed", much in the same manner as Mahomes. The last thing I want to see is us using a pick to select a QB like Easton Stick to "develop" when for all intents and purposes, we will be selecting a franchise QB the following year.

If Haskins gets to 8 I have a very tough time believing we won't trade up. Wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. Unless we really do think Lock is better, but I think then you still move up.

As for moving down, Houston is the team that keeps catching my eye. They have 2 2nd round picks, and they have a HUGE hole on the OL that they need to fill. If one of Jonah Williams or Cody Ford is left on the board, I could see them wanting to move up for him .

I don’t think the giants wants Haskins ..I do think the redskins will trade up if they can't get Rosen in a trade. I pray we don’t take Haskins or lock or any Qb not name Murray. Another thing I was thinking is that there is going to be a lockout and the 2020 qbs might elect to return for their senior years. Tua Fromm

So if we don’t have an opportunity to get murray because he’s going 1 or 4, you don’t want Haskins or Lock, and you think Tua and Fromm are going back for their senior years what do you want us to do?
