Can the third-year middle linebacker take the next step in 2019?

What can we expect from Dolphins’ middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan, as he plans to transition from the wide-9 to a hybrid defense? And can he become Brian Flores’ Dont’a Hightower?

I’ve heard that he has dropped weight..

He is probably the strongest player on the team so the added quickness from dropping the weight should be great without sacrificing strength.

One thing that always stop out to me on the 2008 roster full of competent players. Not great, not terrible, but competent. I would hope that Raekwon is at least competent this year. Put enough players like that together on a team and before you know it, you're a good team and have something you can build on. Now THAT would be refreshing.

i have no doubt that raekwon will be a stud this year for us. tough luck on that injury his rookie year in preseason.

Million dollar question with McMillan this year is do we see the guy that improved towards the end of '18?

I look forward to RM getting some substantive coaching this year and seeing him take the next step to justify his draft status.

Former 5* and #1 ILB in high school and was recruited by all the top colleges. Lead Ohio State's defense as one of the best in the nation during his time.

Suffered a terrible injury and came back slow but picked up as he got better.

I full expect this young man to only get better coming back from his injury.

He's running out of time, he'd better make this season count.

I have more faith in these younger guys with Flores than I did with Matt Burke leading the defense.

If these younger guys improve on defense, we have a real chance to win at least 4 games...

I had high hopes for him his rookie year. I still do really. I bought his rookie card cheap, so here's hoping to a breakout season!

Has to prove to be a more dynamic athlete than what has showed.

IMO.

Kinda looks like a dude you can grab in R5 as opposed to R2.

McMillian, Baker, Kiko, Allan, Harris, rookies Van Giekel, Watson and Hanks might just bring enough to the table for Flores to work with and surprise us this year.

What is his potential? How athletic is he? Instincts? Intelligence? I only ask cause ive never seen him play.

One of tbe offseason weigh in winners at 242. 248 last year I believe. Good cause he needs to get faster to the perimeter of the field play speed wise. Can’t lose anything at the poa between the tackles but range and play speed to the perimeter for the nickel needed. Weight drop may help.

Ball went by him too many times in 2018
