Is Dalton Risner the missing piece to Miami's offensive line?

I think we are ok at guard. Do we want Eich as the backup C? That's my bigger worry. We're probably waiting for a couple of guys to get cut further down the line, maybe a veteran who gets squeezed out during camp battles.
100% agree...

The back up Center angle.

Eichenberg might get better at center, but I doubt it. He's a Guard, maybe an emergency Tackle, but he isn't a Center..

I hope one of the UDFAs is the answer, but if we can sign a G/C... we'll do that.

the penciled in starting guard opposite eichenberg is isiah wynn, who has a lesser profile than the guards in question. wynn's open market value was less than $2mm per year. the guards we are talking about have a higher market value. i guess you are free to your opinion, but i think the players in question are both better and more reliable than either wynn or eichenberg.

Robert Jones is current starter at at RG. Eich plays left side.

Same with this article Van Roten plays rg and Risner plays lg. most players don’t switch and stick to one side or the other so not really a question of who’s the better option but what side.

Personally I doubt they sign either. Think team really like Jones and not sure Risner signs without a starting position.

Would much rather use the funds for a safety.

i thought i had read up on people with a lot more knowledge than me that Risner is just a name. Hes really nothing more than a polished turd who people know his name so they become infatuated with the fact hes a named player and could benefit their team. They mistake being known for being good

100% are but look at AJax. It worked for him.
Jackson came into the NFL as a very, very different player. He was 20 years old coming off the bone marrow donation to his sister which is a physically draining process. He lost a significant amount of body mass his final season at USC and was, frankly speaking, weak even as a rookie. People forget that he looked great at RT his 3rd season before he suffered the foot injury that caused him to miss 16 games. People were “shocked” by his play last year, but realistically it shouldn’t have been a surprise that he was above average when healthy.

Liam came into the NFL as a polished, “NFL ready”, OL prospect. He was widely considered a safe pick with a high floor and average ceiling. I have nothing against Liam, but I don’t think he was ever going to be a player that vastly improved in the NFL. His value to our team is being able to “back up” multiple positions.

I would like to see another IOL or two signed for depth purposes. Injuries are going to happen, so having serviceable, veteran depth at these positions is just good business.

Looking at guard and center for better depth options, and yes, Risner is a possibility amongst others. Don't be surprised if deals are already in place and just not announced or signed yet

Remember Risner was one pf the players who celebrated when coach Berry was fired by Denver Can they coexist?

Oooh, I didn't know that. One would think Risner wouldn't want to be here with him then.

I wrote this, so let me have it. Bring on the hate 😎
No hate, but the wording kind of implies he is a much better player than he actually is.

At this point, I do not believe we are going to pay the going rate for a sure fire "missing piece" talent. I'm not even sure the staff views the Guard position as important as the majority of our members.

I'm not so sure that the FH fan perception that Miami is looking to recruit a guard is shared by GM Chris Grier, Mike McDaniel and the rest of the front office. I wouldn't be surprised if the "Xavien Howard cap relief money" coming due June 1st is actually earmarked for another player(s) at other position(s). Wouldn't be surprised if Safety, Justin Simmons, who lives just north of West Palm Beach, is the actual prime target with the "Xavien cash". I think that we may need another decent Safety.
