lets put this in perspective - yes "we suck" "we are horrible" "we are crap" etc etc. i AGREE.

but just for fun and to make this week/sunday interesting somewhat. lets "reach" to give it some meaning. i mean the 80% of 0-2 teams not making the playoffs has its place so this does too . . .

sparano has been here since 08, and of those last 3 seasons with him at the helm, we have gone 0-2, 0-2, and 2-0. in only 1 of those seasons did we get to the playoffs and actually develop into a decent team, and in the other we actually finished stronger. Lets face it probably our most disappointing season where we completely folded by week 17 was, you guessed it, the 2-0 start! We beat 2 mediocre teams that season to start, yet we were patting ourselves on the back, and the result was quickly winding up at .500 in embarassing fashion.

here is why the next game means something - in each of those seasons game 3 was the deciding factor to where the season was going. In the first year, we beat the living crap out of new england in game 3 unvieling the wildcat, and got better and better for MOST of the season, finishing at 11-5. we had lost to a Jets team that was, at the time, better than us and had a great first half of the year before they collapsed. We also got blown out pathetically by a team that would go on to the super bowl in the Cards.

in 09 we started at 0-2 and looked very weak. we got SLAUGHTERED by atlanta and showed no signs of hope, we also got beat by Indy, and then got beat by SD. in the first 2 games we saw little hope at alli n atlanta, an offense that needed to hold the ball for virtually the whole game against Indy ad still lost in a few passes, and i SD we lost our starting QB and basically showed we were out of it at 0-3. Henne had a good shootout against the jets, but at 1-3 we never got over the hump and finished at 7-9.

Now in 10 we went 2-0 to start against horrible teams. We beat the bills BARELY in a defensive struggle, and then we barely beat the Vikes in a defensive struggle. the writing was on the wall that our offense was horribly stagent and we would either have defensive struggles or lose period. In game 3 it was confirmed as we went down against the jets.

now, this season, we open at 0-2. What we have seen is that Brady and the Pats are looking to go 16-0 again this year and they have once again developed a new offensive system I only pray Rex or someone can stop. they put points up easily and this is similar to our loss against the Cards in 08. We then lose to the Texans in a game we fully could have won. The most important thing here is: we see no single glaring deficiency, just mass disorganization and poor execution. We can move the ball, we CAN get some stops etc. we just have to do it at the SAME TIME.

game 3 this year (and equally as important game 4) are of EXTREME importance. If we finally get click and get a win against Cleveland o the road this week, we will get some confidence back and start gelling better. If we can take that confidence on the road we have some shot at beating SD - who we always seem to play pretty well and who are inconsistant themselves. Do that and we are 2-2 shaping up for a great prime time game against the Jets. Do that and we can still contend considering many of the "widcard" teams in the AFC are yet to cement themselves.

i am not saying that i am hopeful at all about this season, b/c i am NOT, but i will point out that our team is much more similar to the 08 squad (solid all around, just not finding the right system/groove) than to the 09 or 10 squads. Sparano's teams have started slow every year except the one in which we played crappy teams to start. Its nothing new. add to that fact that we played 2 playoff contenders and you have a recipe for 2 losses. if we had played new england and houston separately, and throughout the course of a season and still lost then we wouldnt be so upset right now by the L's on the schedule. There are PLENTY of winnable games on this sched this year. Honestly the Jets and Bills are not as good as their record i dont care what you say. and we are not as bad. the Jets should have lost to Dallas and got a cupcake game 2 against jacksonville. Buffalo blew out KC, who got blown out yet again this week and went punch for punch with oakland who is barely average if that.

0-2 sucks but its not like we havnt come out of it before, and the hardest part of our schedule this year is the beginning remember that.

p.s. i still think we wind up below .500 and have a new coach next season - but these facts still make sense for what they are worth.
