Whether you agree with it or not, You'd have to admit that we are building this team basically through the draft.

And In my life time 99% of the time from the signing of Shula and out side of the Wannsetedt era I went into the season with the expectation of having a shot at a successful winning season.

This coming year is one of the few times I'm checking my expectations at the door. We have, Long, Brown, Carey, Langford, Merling, Henne and hopefully Wake as young guns who hopefully develop and we can build around .We are still missing many pieces of the puzzle and the verdict is not in yet on some of the parts we have.

And the rest of our future is not even in the league yet. Our team will take a minimum of another year or two for these guys to have the opportunity to grow into quality players.

With a tough schedule next year I'd be content with a 500 season. Well maybe content at the end of the season, cause I'd probably be bitching after every loss.

Reality is, it's just not our time. Our rookies will need time to develop and it might not be a bad idea to understand this and be prepared before the season starts.

I guess it's the reality of a real "re-building " process, which we are in the middle of.

But watch out in a couple of years........

I agree we need to have realistic expectations, but I believe we will have a winning season (9 or 10 games). I know our schedule is difficult, but I have reason for hope. I believe that our problem for the last 10 years has been the offensive line, and I truly believe that we significantly upgraded our offensive line unit. I am hopeful that will translate into a much better offensive performance.

Ya ya, blah blah, build through the draft, yada yada yada. Shula himself was traded for.

What a bunch of bolognae.

Aim for the stars so you can reach the moon. We're going to the superbowl!

I'd be happy with a .500 record as well. Give me a 10-6 record any day but if they fall short a few games, so be it.

I expect to have a worse record than last year and our turnovers are definately going to go up. I think we'll be a better team but we'll be going up against a much harder schedule and also some regression to the mean is in order in terms of the turnovers.

I understand what you are saying, but I have noticed that you are not fond of the decisions made by the front office. And by saying that you are checking your expectations at the door just confirms the previous statement. As many have said in the past, BP & Co have done so much with this team and teams before that I have complete faith in their process and have high expectations of the coming year and years to follow.

Also, to say it's just not our time is again, in my opinion, is another slap in the face of the front office. It wasn't suppose to be our time last year, but we won the division. In other words, have a little faith.

" I have noticed that you are not fond of the decisions made by the front office."

Lets not imply that I'm not fond of our organization, because I'm very excited about them.

But unlike you I not willing to accept any org. blindly and think that they are unable to make mistakes or fear of holding them accountable because of their past. You having complete faith is your right and good for you. I happen to have a few questions as to moves or moves not made and I enjoy the process of strategy.......

Unlike you I don't see criticism as threatening of even a negative thing. And because of who they are and that we miraculously ended up Div. Champs don't necessarily feel like that's adequate reasoning to base a successful next year on.

They've shown me and I think it's obviously to most independent thinkers that their time schedule to be a true playoff contenders is not necessarily the 09 season. They are only yr 2 of re-building.

And I don't see it as negative but more reality. We need to build with young and up and coming players (I agree) who traditionally and we all should expect to take some time to develop and most likely not just one year. (so "not our time").....time for developing, dude you got to crawl and the walk before you can run....

I have faith along with a sense of reality. But Have wonder why not add one or two proven FA to fill one of our problem areas (like CB).......and it still could happen.

But looking forward to seeing more of their plan and what they put together in Sept. and seeing the rookies grow.......

Go Fins...........

IMO it's way to early to be making prediction or even thinking about making predictions. We are so far from knowing what this FO is going to do with the first pick, we don't even have a few new starters on the roster yet.

I know what I'd like this team to do, but we could be a 6 win team simply because the schedule is so tough and we won't be a SB contending team for another year. Right now we're still in the transition from really bad to really good and anything can happen during that time. We could win 12 games or we could only win 6.I don't think we'll know for sure what this team will be even after pre season is over.

Not trying to get into a pissing contest. I did not say or imply that you did not like the organization, I said that it seems that you're not happy with some of their decisions.

Also, I agree that no one is perfect, but when an organization turns a 1-15 team into an 11-5 division winner, as well as turning other teams around, to me that says a lot about their crediablity.

Being realistic is one the thing, but to constantly question the moves or lack of moves (CB is your example) just shows your lack of faith and trust in the people who know better than you or I. We still have about 5 months before our first game, let them do what they do best and set this team up for success. Rome wasn't built in a day.

and then,

" but to constantly question the moves or lack of moves (CB is your example) just shows your lack of faith and trust in the people who know better than you or I "

Oh OK.........

Lack of faith in the people...lets see you mean people as in Organization ?

When you figure out how not to double talk get back to me....or not.

Actually I see we really are both just banging our heads against the wall here, probably better just to move on......

I basically agree with you except, just the fact that their is so much still in the unknown category that that kinda says something. I think when we are truly ready to compete for a title we all will have a little more insight into 1.) who is even on our team and 2.) the level of play of some of our developing players.

I realize all this is just an opinion and I'm not trying to state it as facts, just seems common sense because of all the unknown factors it is not unreasonable to feel we are a ways away.

And thats OK in my book......

Always a good thing to limit expectations.
Respect & enjoy the rebuilding process.
Should be a competitive year.
