I don't understand why Coach is so conservative ALL the time. We had all 3 timeouts available and the ball was on their 35 so we were screaming for a TO. He coaches "Not to lose" but it cost us some great opportunities to score more points. Of course the clock ran down and we go no points out of another missed FG. You can believe one thing...Had the shoe been on the other foot the Steelers would have stopped that clock.

What would you have done Coach? Did Philbin play it right?

I thought it was an Ok decision. Those conditions bad field position could have been trouble.

It's a toss up for me. Pitt was punting from an area of the field where they could pin us within 5 yard line and I think they had a couple timeouts. They could have gotten a quick 3 and out and got ball back.

It was conservative but not necessarily a bad move in my opinion.

Yes I think we should have called the time out. We've lost too many close games so every opportunity we have to score, LETS TAKE IT!

I would have used the timeout. Give your team a chance to drive down score. Philbin always plays it too safe. I would have preferred on our last possession at the 9 if we gave tanny a run/pass option to tr y to get a td to seal it

Honestly felt like we should have taken a shot on 3rd and goal. The conservative approach in the 2nd half of the carolina game blew it as well. Go for the throat.

I figured there were a few in either direction but I think with a season on the brink you have to roll the dice more often.

Exactly!

I suspect that was the main consideration.

Miamifinz is right. Pitt was near midfield and had 3 timeouts left. The weather was still a factor at that point, as it was still snowing. Odds are that Pitt pins us inside the 20 and if we don't get a first down or two, they would likely get the back in good field position with a fair amount of time on the clock. The right move was to allow the clock to run. If the Dolphins had an offense like Denver, it's a different story. But they don't. They have a suspect o-line and there is a good chance of a sack and possible turnover. Remember the end of the Buffalo game?

But if I remember correctly they had to punt anyway & we got field position failing to reach real FG range by the end of the half by about 20 seconds
