Our defense is currently tops in the league in total yards defense. And we get to add more firepower with the returun of Dion. This Defense of line is looking a lot like the 08 and 09 Giants. .

What has dion showed you that screams we will get better with him?

Well he shouldn't make us any worse but cautious optimism says the depth is nice.

That's the problem, Jordan hasn't played enough to have shown anything. At this point his worth is a total mystery.

#1 in total yards allowed? If true I would have never guessed it. This defense sure doesn't have the feel of being a top ranked unit imo.

Defense is thing of days gone by for the most part. It doesnt seem like we are a truly dominant defensive team, but how many teams out there are clearly better on defense? Maybe Detroit, Denver? Its a testament to the direction the league is going that we can be the #1 defense in yards allowed and not feel it. Im not sure I like the trend.

Weve consistently held good offensive teams to 20ish points or less. Thats great these days.

This. If he doesn't show up and his work ethic sucks, he will at least be another body in the rotation to keep the better guys fresh. More upside than downside having him back.

That's with the bye week, so you've got to take it with a grain of salt. Still the D has been great.

The biggest surprise is our pass defense. Giving up under 220 pass yards per game. That's such a massive improvement over last year.

I'd rather look at points given up.

And in points per game we are 15th at giving up an average of 23 points per game.

Let's hope that DJ was working hard like Jones. I doubt it but one can hope. If he is out of shape and not ready to go it will be awhile till he snifs PT on D. ST is where he will most likely start out.

Points per game is a flawed measurement of a defense. So is yards per game, for that matter.

The truth is that we probably arent the best defensive team and we definitely arent the 15th best. I think we are somewhere around 5th.

And yet we are 3-3.

BUT, our defense is TERRIBLE because they could not keep Green Bay from scoring a whopping 27 points in about 40 minutes of possession time!!!! It is all their fault we lose!

As would I. Last year we were 8th and not as good in the yardage department as this season. Either way you slice it, our defense is pretty damn good.

I would be interested in the numbers they could produce if our offense were actually capable of sustaining drives and giving them leads to work with more often. With a DL this good, I would like to see how many sacks we could get when playing from ahead 2 or 3 scores in the 4th qtr. Denver's DL has loads of fun in 2nd halves of games.

5.2 NY/A is insanity. We're number 1 in that stat too, I wonder if number 2 is even close. Our offense is 5.8 NY/A and is only ranked 29th.
