10-19 Michael Lombardi on Joe Rose - interesting comments

Ross learned a lesson the hard way and publicly... But seriously... You put all this on Ross??? You gonna hang all of it on a new owner who does not understand the politics of the game? He identified the best man for the job and he went after him hardcore... exactly like you do in business.

He depends on his football men to advise him, in this case Ireland... Jeff should have NEVER let him get on that plane... NEVER... By allowing it, he sunk the blade deep between the shoulders of his 'friend' Tony... I'm surprised those two even talk to each other... Heck maybe they don't but one thing is certain... we have a completely dysfunctional FO and Ross, like everyone else in this sorry excuse for a family, is learning on the job..

Give him this... he was NOT WRONG in who he went after or WHY... it was HOW HE DID IT... Nothing more.

all of the blame??? no i don't...but blameless??? hell no he's not

Fair enough... but at most he is guilty of a misdemeanor... Stepping on some toes, ruffling of some feathers... The real crimes perpetrated on this franchise were by villains like Parcells, Sparano... And Ireland is Public Enemy number one...

Ireland has infested himself inside Ross' head. We can only pray Ross is smart enough to dump his buddy on the streets (oh with millions of dollars in stolen money)

i'm not sure i agree with that...i think no moment cemented our fate this season more than bringing back the coach you tried to replace that you didn't want...i don't think you could do a much dumber thing and the results are as expected for the most part...

i don't care what the players are sayin to the media...sparanos words were hollow the moment that happened...he lost the lockerroom if he hadn't already at that very moment

The EXACT SAME case can be made by Sparano's decision to ACCEPT the deal...

Truly... I'm not gonna lynch anyone for making the right decision but being too aggressive about it... I'm quite happy making bold mistakes...

Obviously Ross was absolutely CERTAIN he was going to get Harbaugh to sign on the line... I don't think Tony was any kind of fall back plan... Sparano was little more than an afterthought and the extension, apology money. JMHO.

Truth is... Sparano will cease to hurt this franchise the moment he steps off the property but Ireland is another matter entirely... His ridiculous mismanagement has the potential to cripple us for years... We got bigger 'fish' to fry. Excuse the pun.

i don't know why sparano accepted that deal either...it had to be money driven...no other thing makes sense...as for ireland yeah we got bigger fish to fry and his existing personnel additions have been awful this year but i have to say for only one draft that i can truly pin on him the results have been pretty solid...pouncey and daniel thomas are keepers...gates is a year away or so before we see his full potential and clay even looks better than i expected in limited reps...and wilson that kid looks like a difference maker down the road...hitting on the draft is easier said than done and i think we showed well this year...

It kinda sounded like Michael Lombardi was making a pitch to Ross for employment when talking with Joe Rose today.

I've been saying for quite some time that IRELAND is the REAL PROBLEM. This is team is poorly constructed, every decision is reactionary, and the overall chemistry is putrid. The entire talent on this team is completely overrated.

Ireland is much worse at this job (the total package of G.M.) than Sparano is at his.

You're telling me that if you paired Sparano with a Ted Thompson that he'd do worse than Mike McCarthy? Please.....

While I agree that the draft was decent... I have only to point out the REGRESSION the team made in spite of it... We actually went backwards which speaks more to Ireland's big picture mismanagement and overall misguided philosophy... In four years we have basically the same holes to fill...

I know you are on board with all of this so it is preaching to the choir... but truthfully the QB disaster is laid 100% at Ireland's door... And I cannot forgive that.

Personally I would much rather be watching Mallett than Thomas right now, going through a trial by fire... I know it would not make one iota of difference in the standings but at the very least I would be watching a young QB and know with absolute certainty what we had in the kid.

Seriously the fact that S4L is not just the best option... It is the ONLY option is all on Jeff. That Qb cupboard is dead empty with Henne in a contract year... TERRIBLE asset management.

Ya it's totally ridiculous but I am struggling for reasons to watch my favorite team on sundays.

theres no way ross should get a pass for the harbaugh thing...and its not because harbaugh didn't come...fine you tried...but you never ever never retain a head coach after word gets out that you've pursued a replacement one...it undermines any respect the players will have for the lame duck returning...and that contract extension we gave sparano afterwards...players see through that stuff...they know the owner doesn't even have sparanos back...why should they???

ross screwed the pooch on that one royally...ross has a piece of this craptastic pie just like sparano and ireland do...and his is larger than many think

I would agree if it were a normal year but with the lockout pending I'm willing to give him a pass on this. There were a lot of coaches that probably should have been fired around the league, it tells me the owners were half expecting the lockout to be long term. Even the Daboll hiring wreaks of "lets just get a body in here in just case we play a season".

As for the Harbaugh/Ireland thing, maybe Harbaugh was totally Irelands idea and Ireland was the one pushing hard for Ross to hire him. If that were the case it would be kind of a dick move for Ross to get rid of Ireland in order to aquire Harbaugh.

LOL, have you ever been married? An unhappy, crabby relocated wife and family ain't worth the additional $1-2Mil if you're already up in the high rent district to begin with. Look at Terry Saban, pizzing and moaning while living there in a mansion on Ft Lauderdale's Intracoastal Millionaires Row.

No I think wives/kids are terrible investments! Ask Mad Dog/Ted he tried to debate it with me.

Ross is clueless. It all comes down to him. He owns the product. The product sucks!!! The buck stops with him. Period.

No doubt the product sucks and he knows that! Do you think he just wants to buy a football team for $750 million and let it tank for shi#ts and giggles?! Timing......timing......and....time. Why dont you put an offer to buy the team?

I'm tired of the "Ross is clueless" crap. He's not clueless and he does care about his franchise. Just because you hear crap in the media or on Finheaven doesn't mean anything. I feel that Ross is a smart business owner and will do the right thing. You have to remember that it takes time to make smart decisions and you also have to have the right timing on decisions. You can't make a hire or fire just because Finheaven member 101 said so.....

He has been in charge for for long enough (3 solid years) that he has to shoulder some of the blame. He is NOT innocent.

Ross wanted Harbaugh, is it any coincedence that he has become a very good pro coach? ( So far)

Fact is Ross walked into this front office, I am not saying he has all the answer but I dont see why everyone is so down on him...

I think his only fault so far was keeping Tony when he should have been fired last year.

That's a pretty big thing......darn big if you ask me.
