During the open portion of #Dolphins practice, everyone is here except CB Brice McCain

Brice McCain is not practicing because of his knee injury. That's three straight sessions he missed. Safe to say he's not playing.

Dolphins practice squad receiver Robert Herron is not practicing today.

No Brice McCain (knee) at practice. So expect Bobby McCain, perhaps Bowman to supplement Grimes, Taylor for Dolphins Sunday vs. Houston.

He's a month younger then Manning...

For sure Campbell is young. He isn't the youngest head coach ever though is he? I know he is the youngest active head coach

To answer my own question Lane Kifflin was 31 years old. But how horrible was he

Not the youngest ever. I think Dave Shula might have that distinction when he took over for Cincy a long time ago...I think he was 32 1/2 or something like that.

Texans middle linebacker Brian Cushing delivered some punishing tackles and was sharper in his pursuit angles during a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Cushing recorded a game-high 12 tackles with nine solos against the Jaguars.

It was a positive sign for Cushing, a former Pro Bowl selection and NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year who’s battled injuries in recent years and has started every game this season and leads the Texans with 52 tackles and one forced fumble. Cushing had a torn anterior cruciate ligament against the New York Jets in 2012 and broke his leg and tore a knee ligament in 2013 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“He had a bunch of tackles, very intense player, and Brian means a lot to our team,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said. “He’s a leader out there. He calls the defensive signals and I thought he had one of his better games. He made a lot of plays and it was good to see. It seems like he feels good which is a big part of his deal, just being healthy and hopefully that helps him.”

Cushing will be counted on heavily again Sunday against the Miami Dolphins’ running game that features speedy running back Lamar Miller.

The Texans will be without rookie inside linebacker Benardrick McKinney, who’s out with a concussion. The Texans will utilize Justin Tuggle and Akeem Dent at inside linebacker with McKinney sidelined.

“I think you’ll see Tugg in there, I think you’ll see Dent in there,” O’Brien said. “I think you’ll see Max Bullough in there. Brian Peters will be back. We’ve got a number of different ways. Again, it’s a game-plan type deal, so it’s whatever we need to do, whatever we think we need to do to go against Miami.

“Miami is a very different team, very, very different than the other teams that we’ve played. They’re different on offense, they’re different on defense. That’s how we kind of judge who plays what, what role do they have in the game. That’s kind of how we do it.”

doubt brice plays on short week next week either

While I never like to see any player injured (though would happily see him cut) in terms of impact on the D, McCain has been so bad I doubt we will miss him

There have been dozen of Head coaches younger then DC

Mike Pouncey, who was limited yesterday because of a hip issue, is working. Not sure if his participation is limited again.

Cameron and Sims may have a field day if those injuries are as bad as they sound

Whitney Mercilus is the only Texans starting linebacker who can be considered 100 percent for Sunday’s Miami game. But, to get where he is, Mercilus has played uncomplainingly through what coach Bill O’Brien describes as “a very significant thigh bruise for a few weeks,” which would seemingly explain his perceived lack of productivity.

He hardly had a stat line until last weekend’s 31-20 victory over Jacksonville, when he assumed Jadeveon Clowney’s role in Romeo Crennel’s defense. While Clowney sat out with a sprained ankle, Mercilus looked like the first-round draft pick he was in 2012, getting his first two sacks of the year, making three unassisted tackles and playing all-around sound, within-the-scheme football.
Clowney remains iffy to return against the Dolphins, while rookie inside linebacker Bernardrick McKinney, who recently won one of the starting jobs inside, is dealing with concussion issues. And Brian Cushing, the other inside linebacker, pulled up lame at practice Wednesday with a sprained ankle.

TEXANS VS. DOLPHINS

Houston Texans: The Dolphins' pass rush was fierce Sunday with six sacks, and it will now be facing a Texans offensive line that has lately been very good at pass protection despite swapping players constantly this season. The Texans have given up only four sacks in the past four weeks, ranking second in the league, so this will be strength against strength. If it were at home, I’d give the nod to the Texans. But the Dolphins energy right now under interim head coach Dan Campbell will carry them. Dolphins 22, Texans 17. -- Tania Ganguli

Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins are just 4-5 in their past nine home games at Sun Life Stadium and 0-7 all-time against the Texans. But the Dolphins have adopted a new, physical attitude under interim coach Dan Campbell. The Dolphins rushed for a season-high 180 yards last week, and need similar success Sunday against Texans. Nfl network just said Clowney is expected to play. I haven't seen him play to be honest but i know he has no sacks so far
