Guys,
After spending some time looking at the competition and their schedules, it is very possible that KC finishes the season 11-5 and that Denver, at worst, finishes up 10-6, which would still have them over us due to their superior conference record, which sits at 7-3 right now..
The Chiefs do not have a tough schedule at all, they have a tough road game at SD, but given their rabid fan base, can beat Baltimore and the Jags at home..

In the unlikely event that we do win out, 10-6 still may not cut it for the Dolphins this year.. Remember the Steelers had to finish out 11-5 to get the wildcard 6 seed last year.. Lets hope a couple of upsets happen the next few weeks.

I have been saying 10-6 and we make it and 9-7 we dont. I still think 10-6 is good enough. Of course like you say it may not be enough, that is possible, but I think it will be enough!

I think you are giving KC a little too much credit.

I disagree I think they will lose to Baltimore because of their great defense and lose to SD, Jacksonville will also finish at least 10-6 because they also have a tough schedule.

Trent Green isn't playing well right now and if they have their run game shut down then KC has no chance at winning.

Remember if we finish with a 3 way tie with lets say Denver and KC, head to head against KC gets thrown out the window and Conference record takes precedence. In that scenario we lose out on the last spot, imagine a 4 way tie at 10-6 including Cincy, we still lose out because of horrid 2-5 afc record

Finishing 10-6 would be miraculous by itself, getting into the playoffs is just the icing on the cake.

We've got 2 tough games coming up back to back here, Ronnie Brown is hurt...If we make it through the next 2 weeks without a loss it will be seriously impressive.

If we win the next two games the Fins will be getting praise from all the televison stations and will be the talk of the NFL and the sports world.

Looks like my thread from early on may come back to bite us :) Those early season conference loses still pain me... All we needed was one more AFC victory to have a more realistic shot.... I'm hoping Saban can break his early season swoons next year, it seems like he reversed our late season collapses in favor of early season ones.. Jeez this franchise is cursed.

If we were to finish in a three way tie with KC and Denver we would get a spot with Denver because we beat KC, head to head doesn't get thrown out because 3 teams have the same record.

Wrong.. http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakers
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)
1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. - This would apply to us since we do not play Denver this year.

Nonsense. If by the miracle of the Lord God we run the table, we WILL be in the playoffs. I am sure of it. If we lose even one game though, we are OUT.

In a three way tie between Miami, Denver & KC we would end up in a two way tie break against either KC or Denver (If KC finished above Denver in the division tiebreak we'd win the playoff spot on head to head. The Denver tiebreak depends on how the rest of the season plays out...) If the three teams we're competing for two wildcard places and we lost the first tiebreak (which could only happen against Denver) then we'd win the second tiebreak against KC on head to head.

If it comes down to a tie between KC, Den and Mia, Miami would actually win... 1st tie breaker produced only the highest ranked team from each division... so tie breakers would apply to Den and KC first. Now KC is 3-1 with in the division and Den 2-1 so right now KC would win... Next it goes to a tie breaker between KC and Mia... Mia wins via head to head
