Since training camp is still a few weeks away, here's a fun topic. Who are the top 10 quarterbacks in Miami's history?

Here's my shot....

1. Dan Marino -- Still in the conversation for best quarterback ever. Shame he didn't win a title.
2. Bob Griese -- Ultimate team leader who sadly has become underrated with current media.
3. Ryan Tannehill --- Big drop off from Marino/Griese. Tannehill has been solid without a lot around him.
4. Chad Pennington -- Too bad Miami didn't have him longer. "Noodle" arm led team to last playoff appearance.
5. Earl Morrall -- The best backup qb in Dolphin history.
6. Jay Fielder --- More of a solid backup, but loved his attitude.
7. Scott Mitchell -- Had a couple of good years in Detroit. Backup to Marino in Miami.
8. David Woodley --- Still hard to believe Dolphins almost won a super bowl with Woodley.
9. Don Strock -- Another solid backup who sparked the team more than once off the bench.
10. Chad Henne -- Never developed as I had hoped.

As much as I like Ryan, Earl Morrall was no 3 easy. He played on 5 SB teams and has 3 rings. He QB'd some of those teams to the big game as well. In '69 he led the Colts to a 13-1 record (yes I know they lost to the Jets in the SB) and what he did for us in '72 when Griese went down was remarkable. Some info to consider:

Career highlights and awards
3× Super Bowl champion (V, VII, VIII)
NFL Comeback Player of the Year (1972)
2× First-team All-Pro (1968, 1972)
NFL Most Valuable Player (1968)
NFL passing touchdowns leader (1968)
2× Pro Bowl (1957, 1968)
Consensus All-American (1955)
Michigan State Athletics Hall of Fame

Like I said, I like Ryan but Morrall has a HOF resume, including the replacing of an injured Unitas early 2nd quarter of SB V down 13-6 and led the team back for a SB victory. He was great. He happened to play on teams who had guys named Unitas and Griese. Yet, when he got the call, all he did was go to SBs, pro-bowls and win NFL MVP awards.

2nd half of 2005 was some of the best quarterbacking we've seen post Marino. Ferortte did his thing.

Strock, Pennington, and Morrall were all better than Tannehill...

Two hall of famers...sad part is a third one named Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers should be there if Wannstedt and Nick Saban hadn't screwed up.

How can one put a QB who hasn't accomplished anything above QB's who have taken the team to the playoffs or won SB's?

Let's see...When did Tannehill take us to the playoffs or win a SB? Boy, I must have really missed that!

I'm surprised at the lack of love for Earl Morrall. The guy was a great QB who won played in or got his team to a lot of SBs...
