#1 The new offensive philosophy is geared for a quick strike not so much grind it out use up the clock and kick a few field goals and win by a slim margin. What this means is the dolphins may not win the time of possession but score more touchdowns quickly and that means our defense will get more opportunity's to force more turnovers..

#2 Burnett lead all linebackers in sacks with 6 last year and covers tight-ends like Michal Jacksons blanket. I look for Burnet to force some fumbles and perhaps catch a couple interceptions and the coverage he provides will mean quarterbacks will have to hold the ball longer looking for other options..

3# Nolans Defensive scheme has had a year to gel what separated the dolphins from being a top 3 defense was turnovers now that most of the defense knows where to be and should be on the same page..

4# Odrick the guy is a beast he will get his sacks and cause some fumbles and pressure quarterbacks to make dumb decisions.

5# Jason Taylor is the old man in the room we didn't get to see too much of JT in the preseason whoever it looks like he hasn't lost a step maybe only half a step at the end of last year he made Brady fumble so yeah he will get 6 sacks at least and cause some drama on the opposing quarterbacks.

6# AJ Edds the guy can cover as well he seems to be around the ball as well
again this will present problems for quarterbacks trying to find the outlet tight end who will be covered.

7# Vontae Davis with the linebackers providing better coverage this will force
quarterbacks to take more shots throwing at Davis and Vontae will make sure he gets some quality highlight reals for Revis to look at to prove who the best cornerback is in the NFL.

8# Sean Smith can he do any worse dropping the ball? His coverage vs bigger
wide receivers is superb im looking for Smith to quiet the doubters this year as he will have a lot of balls thrown his way as Qbs will prefer taking chances with Smith than Davis. Smith has the talent his rookie year in the preseason he made one of the best one handed interceptions i have ever seen.

9# Wake this guy is going to have a monster year i feel it. The coverage is going to be so good that quarterbacks will be running for their life he will force many fumbles and sacks im predicting 15 sacks right now 4 forced fumbles his pressure alone will force many bad passes to be intercepted.

10# this defense is way too good to be ranked 30th in the league in forcing turnovers the right players are here now on Defense great schemes, the players will have that swagger this year. I think the defense got a little down on itself last year as we had issues covering pass catching running backs and tightends and have turned this weakness into a strength.

#11 Even a blind squirrel find a nut every now and then. (Sean)

If he just caught half the drops from last year he'd lead the league in interceptions.

His LUCK has got to change eventually because he is in the right place to make plays.

thanks for the positive thread, I agree about Odrick and having him availible this year is like having an extra draft pick. woot, for them fins baby.

Your right smith tends to be in good position and teams are reluctant to throw near davis
Smith being a former receiver should be catching more interceptions with the looks he will get.

They should have smith practice catching balls with the receivers..

I still think we do have top 5 CB tandems. Smith is still relatively new to the position, and I strongly agree that another year under Nolan will be VERY telling. I stated other places I think Nolan was actually our best aquisition last year, and I stick to it.

I also see a HUGE upgrade from Chowder to Burnett, and something that does is frees Dansby to roam more. That is going to be HUGE in Nolan's scheming I think. I watched lots of him while he was with the Cards, and that man is the Troy Polamalu of linebackers. Always making plays.

Nice write up!

When Vontae said "we the best cornerback tandem"
I said to myself well they have the potential to be the best!
I think Vontae could be the best when all things are considered
yeah Revis maybe the best pure cover corner
but if Chris Johnson is out in the open field
id rather have Davis tackle him to save the touchdown than Revis.
Davis is also younger and his best years are still ahead of him..
while Revis is looking in the mirror saying "who is the prettiest of them all?"
and hit his ceiling..

I would be shocked if we didn't cause more turnovers this season, absolutely shocked.

i just read your first paragraph and already i see a misnomer. We do control the clock well in this offense. first down, we get 7 yards in pass play and then toy with them for a couple plays getting the first down. Now, have we had quick strike TD'S? yes, so that much is true, but I also think we have the ability with quick strike plays to keep clock moving and get first downs, which is how you use the clock and wear down big guys in front, cus they keep wasting energy for nothing going down the field. I think we saw this in the carolina game, a little with second teamers in atlanta, and in tampa game. Tampa guys were sucking wind and laying on ground after plays.

Agree we can still control the clock however with henning everything was short
i remember one drive that took a whole quarter and at the end it was a field goal..
:p

This is why Henning had to go... To settle for 3 after controlling so much clock, knowing that the pts you just put on the board can be erased having the opposing team put up a TD, thats a failure in my book...

Davis had 13 missed tackles last season...13
not even in the discussion of best corner till he solves his
tackling problem

Don't be surprised if the 6'4" blind squirrel plays lights out.
