Here are 10 Things Worse than the Play of RT that have led to a horrible season

1) Not fixing the run defense

2) The belief that small corners are the way to go

3) Not bringing in Evan Mathis
Fell in our laps but we couldn't pull the trigger

4) Not firing Phiblin after last Season

5) Not drafting L'ael Collins
Another gift we could have had in 2nd, 3rd or 4th round. He would have signed and played as a 6th rounder, too. Had no choice unless he wanted to waste a year

6) The middle round picks of Turner, Thomas and Douglas

7) Letting Philbin turn this into a finesse team

8) Letting Charles Clay walk, for no good reason

9) Greg Jennings, waste of roster and cap space

10) A lack of depth so severe it makes Kim Kardashian blush

I have no issue with letting clay walk, for that money he could walk.
My issue was their answer to replace him. The Mathis part is a great point. Many on here worry about him holding back our young players and hurting the cap lol.
Cutting Earl Mitchell would have solved that

1). The run defense wasn't going to get better even with the Suh signing(not a knock on Suh) as long as Coyle was here jamming squares into circles. Most fans saw the Suh signing and instantly thought here we go. Our run d problem is with the backers, and if you look back at the list of FAs from off season, the biggest names instantly became locked up and the rest of the league was left with the likes of Sean Weatherspoon, Brandon Spikes, Phillip Wheeler, aging Lance Briggs to pick from. So it became clear we were going to ride the young LB core playing in a scheme designed by awful d cord.

2). Looking back at the FA CB class, outside the likes of Revis, Maxwell, etc.. there wasn't big names worth the money they were going to get from teams. While I agree small isn't appealing, you can't throw 10mil at a guy because he is 2 inches taller then Grimes but no where close to instinct that Grimes had.

3). Mathis wasn't coming here, he wanted to play for contender and anybody with sense could see the Pats owned the AFCE so he made a business choice. Also, he has been riddled with injuries this season(sadly still better then our healthy line).

4). I had hopes that Joe would come around and really get his scheme going once he had proper pieces but it became apparent that his lack of experience as the main guy, having a cord like Coyle ruin the d, if what's said about Lazor is true, that doesn't help either. Joe is gone now, time to move on.

5). 30 other teams passed along with us so not picking at FO about that.

6). Can't argue with that one, maybe one of them will pay off and turn into something but it wasn't a instant plug and play situation for them. It was plug and hope they don't leak too much. That falls on the coaching and the FO without a doubt.

7). We brought Joe here based on work in GB, when they went hurry up they were amazing in GB, so he came here with view of finesse team and instead was given Jeff Ireland prize winners instead of proper pieces.

8). Everybody just can't seem to grasp that Rex attracts players once they get around him. Something about the guy players love and will go to war for. So while we sigh at his antics, once Clay got in a room with him, they money offer was made it was bound to happen. More so if this Lazor stuff is true, why wouldn't clay want to get out, get paid more and play for a coach that is a real players coach?

9). I have no problem with Jennings signing. He may not be amazing on the field but you can see he is like a second WR coach. I have no doubt some of his knowledge was passed onto the likes of Landry and more so Matthews which was really putting in the time and effort.

10). No comment due to lame Kardashian name

There was no indication that Mathis would not come here, we were not going to pay his asking price. The dolphins wanted him at about 2.5 million. The broncos were a better team but they also agreed to pay him more money.
They basically wanted to give him the same money we pay Shelby as a backup.

Actually, the real crime was getting to the point that we had to try and sign Mathis to begin with. The guard situation was basically ignored in my opinion until we had little to no options left.

Mathis said he wanted to play for a contender. He said he turned down more money from the Dolphins.

You need to be more specific by the term front office. TBomb brought in Suh and Phillips. That is a step in the correct direction. You may have a point about Hickey.

Points #4 and #7 are on the owner.

Philbin wanted one of his players, so blaming the FO for #9 is silly. Blame it on Ross if you want.

Mathis turned down more money to play for a contender. I do not see how you blame the front office for his decision. You win some and you lose some.

Was that said during the offseason? I thought that was just an assumption with no factual evidence.

Cutting Earl Mitchell would have solved that

No it would not. Unless you had cut Mitchell before the 4th day of league's new year, when Mitchell's $4 million base salary became fully guaranteed, you would not save anything by cutting him.

the only thing I hate was not drafting Collins, plus not letting Douglas play LG his natural position. He cant possibly be worse than Thomas.

He was given his chance during training camp and he was worse than Thomas.

Jordan Cameron should be better than Clay. Why that hasn't materialized is a mystery.

All those 10 things are sins but not finding a franchise QB is the biggest sin and can't be left off the list. Without this sin being forgiven we will never win IMO

Amazing that when things are going bad, we look back at things majority of us loved at the time as a "sin". Please just stop with all of this.
