Ryan Tannehill is not one of them.

I've never made a Ryan Tannehill thread and I've stayed out of "discussions" about him.

Here is LUG's opinion.

Ryan Tannehill is a very good athlete. And a good passer. So good that in HS and College he was able to play QB at a high level.

But this is the NFL. And for a number of reasons, playing QB has become even more of a thinking man game. But even more than that, a "quick processing" man's game. When you see the correct open man how long does it take the ball to leave your hand? And now, was that the correct open man considering the defense's shifts?

So Ryan is never going to be a top 10 QB in the NFL. It is not his fault but his mind is not fast enough. If he is given a running game and an offensive line that can in any way block, he can be a good NFL.

One nit pick...his stance is too wide.

My view has always been if a team does not have a top 10 QB then that team has QB issues.

I disagree with the assertion that Tannehill played QB at a high level in college. That was not the case.

Oh look.... another Tannehill thread..... And I was getting worried.

Tannehill can't even handle the rush of the girl in the play 60 commercial. Anyone see it?

Be prepared for 10-20 more years of qb problems then...

Look tannehill will never be a top 10 qb but you dont need that to win. When the patriots won their first three superbowls,Brady was a fraction of a qb he is today. He was not the elite passer he is today. When the steelers won, big ben was not an elite passer he is today. 2000 ravens, 2003 bucs, both giants superbowl teams with eli, last years broncos and the seahawks to an extent all had great defenses woth good running games. How many teams have actually been carried by an elite qb? Mannings superbowl with the colts, drew brees with the saints and other than that im drawing blanks atleast in the last 20 years or so. Put together a top notch defense and a good running game and we can win with Tannehill. Put tannehill on a 2004 dolphins team that we wasted with fielder at qb and Tannehill will be very successful. He had a very bad game last night and it happens. It's easy to say he sucks and cut him but until we have a qb that we know is better than Tannehill isnt going anywhere. For everyone thats prepared to move on from him are you also prepared to go back to what it was like before him with the years of fiedler, lemon, lucus, culpepper, harrington etc?

Back to the topic at hand, I agree. There are only 10-12 QB's that you can because of, and for a sustainable amount of time.

I wish I could take credit for that but sadly I can't. However when I first seen it, that flashed in my mind and I lol'd.

That should be a sticky somewhere. Its too damn good

It would also help if Gase called some plays that don't take 20 minutes to develop.

Why no rollouts to get him out of the pocket that was being caved in all night? If he has such bad pocket awareness, why not move the pocket outside the tackle box?

Brady may now have been what he is now or any of those other QB's but he was clutch. Having an Elite changes the makeup of a team...converting 3rd downs and sustaining drives...that helps the defense stay off the field and rest. It helps the running game as defenses can't just put 8 in the box. It helps the O-line as they move around the pocket and avoid the rush and buy a little more time for the WR to get open.

Is an Elite QB going to turn a complete garbage team around of course not but it will turn a 6-8 win team into a playoff contender. The 2000 patriots went 5-11 for god sakes and won the Super Bowl the very next year Brady started. The steelers of the 90's were know for having a strong defense and good running game yet never won anything until Ben got there.
