#Dolphins are going helmets and shorts today.

Good news for the #Dolphins. Starting G Daryn Colledge is practicing for the third straight day. Chances look good for him to return Sunday.

Looking like Cortland Finnegan not at practice again. Seems unlikely he plays Sunday #Dolphins

That would mean #Dolphins second-year CB Jamar Taylor would get his second straight start vs. Denver. Taylor had seven tackles vs. BUF.

Charles Clay doesn't have a helmet on today. Looks like he's not working

#Dolphins LB Koa Misi also is here for the second straight day, as expected. He missed Tuesday due to the birth of his child.

Briefs: Broncos may get Emmanuel Sanders, Julius Thomas back vs....
By The Denver Post @denverpost
Emmanuel Sanders, Julius Thomas not ruled out for Dolphins.
7:55 AM - 20 Nov 2014

I am still not sure why the beat guys keep saying that Colledge returning is a big deal. I think Smith is better.

Thomas and Sanders will play. I have thought that since Monday.

Would rather have Finnegan playing and Colledge still out, if only it worked that way!

I think Thomas will play but I don't think Sanders will. People think just because he is posting selfies on twitter and doing charity work he will be fine. That's not how the new concussion protocol works in the NFL. If your brain is still bruised and you are showing any lingering effects you aren't playing, period. I also think the Broncos especially will be making sure Sanders is 100% recovered because of the damage that has been done to Welker because of suffering the lingering effects from multiple concussions.

I was reading tweets yesterday from the Broncos beat writers from Sunday and one of them posted something very similar to "his eyes rolled back into his head and he was out of it for quite awhile before being helped to the bench". Those are not symptoms from someone who had a minor concussion those are symptoms of someone suffering from a grade 3 concussion and under 99% of the doctors in the US it is recommended that the player wait at least 2 weeks before returning to practice/game day activities. After reading what happened to Sanders and seeing how most doctors respond to concussions I don't see how he will be cleared to play by an independent physician.

Neither Thomas or Sanders are practicing today.

Interesting.

Wonder if they miss friday practice they would be rules out?

Not sure I have ever seen a player miss entire week of practice and still be active on game day? (Calvin Johnson maybe?)

There is no need to practice those two guys. In fact, it allows Manning to catch up the backups a bit more.

I will still say the issue is not the Broncos offense, but their defense coupled with our line.

If Sanders doesn't practice tomorrow there is no way under the new NFL protocol rules that he will be allowed to play because you have to monitor how the player responds to increasing activity. They just aren't going to evaluate him Sunday morning and say "yep your good to go".

Thomas on the other hand is a different story.

Here is the concussion protocol from the NFL web page.

DAYS AFTER THE GAME

The initial treatment is rest, and the team doctors and athletic trainers begin monitoring to see when a player appears to have returned to baseline functioning. Do symptoms return when a player watches practice or when he watches film? Is there return of symptoms with physical activity?

Once symptoms have completely subsided, the player again performs more comprehensive neuropsychological tests interpreted by the team neuropsychologist. There are no pass-fail grades, only additional data for physicians to consider.

If the player is progressing, he would be become eligible for increased physical activity. The workouts would ramp up over a few days if no symptoms occur.

A player feeling normal one day after the game might pass cognitive testing Tuesday and begin a light exercise program, intensify their exercise routine Wednesday, participate in non-contact aspects of practice on Thursday and return to full practice Friday. But if a player has a history of concussions or isn't progressing as quickly as planned, the process moves accordingly.

The medical team increases the exercise regimen to full speed as the player proves he can handle the escalation without incident. Some teams stage controlled contact drills featuring, for example, one lineman blocking another the way they would in an unpadded practice.

"The thing that I think is important here is you don't manage concussions by a calendar," Dr. Herring said. "Some guys may come back in a week. Some guys may come back in six weeks. These steps don't have an expiration date on them. The player's history of injury and other issues come into play."

Once a team doctor signs off on a player's return, the player is evaluated in person by an unaffiliated concussion expert physician approved by both the NFL and NFL Players Association. This unaffiliated expert also must sign off on the player's health before he is allowed to return to play.

Maybe its 50/50. :err:

If Thomas don't practice tomorrow, unlikely he will play. Personally, I don't think he will, Broncos are just posturing to make the Fins waste their time preparing for him. Sanders may play, tomorrow will be more telling.

Exactly....again, Colledge is credited with 5 sacks allowed in his last two games played....not exactly excited about the possibility of his return.

I think most of those (3) can be accredited to when he tried to play through a migraine. He was essentially hurting the team by trying to be a tough guy.
