I think we may have been duped (in a good way). I was at the Jets game and couldn't (from my seats) see what caused him to be hurt. I'm sure he was hurt in some manner or other. But, there seemed to be a real lack of info last week on what was really his injury. The closest I could find was an ankle/foot problem.

I think that Saban knows he may need to offer a package deal to get the QB he wants. So, just in case, he held Ronnie out of the Tenessee game to showcase Ricky against a poor run defense.

I do a lot of marketing in my job and I think it was a strong move.

Having Ricky around is nice....but, at some point you need to justify the #2 pick by going to just Ronnie.

Yes Ronnie was hurt. Yes it probably did cross the coaching staff's mind that the Titans game would be a great opportunity to showcase Ricky a little bit for trade. Bad run defense, and all the sudden we're calling a 30 run game. Hmm...

Ronnie actually took two injuries, first I think to his ankle and then to his knee. They were both genuine injuries, and I think the ankle ended up being worse than the knee. They didn't fake a Ronnie injury just to get Ricky on the field more. But, I would argue they probably did call the Tennessee game with a little bit of showcasing Ricky in mind.

I never stated that they faked an injury. My question is, Could Ronnie have played? Probably. Did the coaches even think twice about keeping him on the bench and showcasing Ricky? I bet not.

CK, Do you see it playing out in the draft that we maybe package Ricky with our first rounder to get a shot at Leinhart, Cutler, or Young?

I'd see The Jets, Green Bay, Detroit, or Cleveland making a trade for him. Maybe he goes BACK to New Orleans?

I didn't include Houston because I bet they'll take Bush.

Conspiracy theorists crack me up.

Since the NO game here are the rushing attempts:

NO, you move along. I asked a legitimate question and you gave me a bunch of #'s. How does that prove or dissprove the thread topic? Go be a smart @ss in someone elses thread!

You should move along ...These threads are getting annoying, and ridiculous...

We have the 2nd best running back combo in the league, why trade our MVP's...

We can get a QB without using ricky as a trade bait.

Please, no more non-sense, I'll have to jump out of a building with one more thread like that..

Do you think the Steelers will trade either Bettis or Parker ?
Do you think the Falcons will trade either Dunn or Duckett..?

ronnie brown is justified by all means but he's not ready to get 20-25 carries EVERY week.

I'm confused. If you don't like threads such as this, then why do you visit them?

Being that the Jets are a divisional rival, do you see a trade that could hypothetically be worked out? I'd hope the Dolphins wouldn't trade him somewhere in the division, if anywhere.

A bunch of numbers that proved your theory to be invalid. We ran the ball when we had leads, we didn't when we were coming from behind in games. It's as easy as that. There was no showing of the goods. No teams will take a flyer on a guy that's 1 joint away from being suspended for a year or may retire at any minute.
This is exaclty why we will keep both, if one goes down the other steps in. Saban loves to have plenty of depth.

I'd hope not. But, if that's the way to get the QB they want then I'm fine with it. The Jets are going to need more than A RB to be competitive. Realistically, the Jets know Pennington isn't the answer at QB. I'd see them going after Young, Cutler or Leinhart.

The Jets can pick whoever they want coming up. Green Bay has Ahman Green and Gado (sp?) proved he can tote it...besides they have bigger holes than at RB. Detroit has Kevin Jones, who will be fine when the address the online. Droughens for Cleveland has over 1000 yards, and they already have a head case in William Green. Duece will be fine in NO next year. The only team I see maybe wanting him is Philly, but I don't see them taking that kind of risk after the T.O. thing

I never questioned that we've run the ball a lot. My question was, do you think Saban deliberately kept Ronnie out so that he could showcase Ricky in case of a possible trade?

I've watched every game for the last decade, so I knew how often we were running the ball.

I think Saban's being a bit of a visionary by keeping Ricky and Ronnie together. What other team has two speedy AND bruising backs who are both pro-bowl caliber players?

When this team has a playoff season we'll see just how valuable it is to have both of these guys. When we're pounding on a tired, depleted defense in the 4th quarter of a playoff game or the Super Bowl with Ricky AND Ronnie, I think we'll finally see Saban's plan for this.

The key is Ricky's salary. We're able to do this because he's not real money hungry, and I think he doesn't mind his out-of-the-spotlight role at all.

And in terms of justifying the #2 pick -- KEEPING Ricky does that. How'd you like to have your #2 pick sitting over on the bench hurt because he's working too hard? The Bucs might've gotten a first-round bye had they had someone better to spell their #5 pick. That's where we'll be next year because we do.
