12/3/05: M.Leinart vs D.Olson

I'm pretty sure every Dolphins fan is going to be watching the USC vs UCLA game...as this game could determine what the Dolphins do regarding the draft and the QB position. Do they trade up for Leinart or do they use their 1st rounder on something else and wait for Olson in the 2nd round. Cutler or Olson will probably be the 2nd QB picked

If we pick around 8-10, trading up for Lienart would be far too expensive. The Giants had to give up a 1st, 3rd, and 5th just to move form 4 to 1. Leinart will likely go in the top 3.

Im betting Oleson isnt taken until the 3rd, 4th or 5th round. He is having an outstanding year but word here in Pac-10 country is he is more a product of an offensive system then posessing the physical intangibles. Course, i believe they thought the same thing about Joe Montana so go figure!

So if we lose Sunday and Baltimore beats Houston...(probability) we can jump from the 9 to 8 spot...and if the Cardinals beat San Francisco (probability)...we can move up to the 7 spot with 4 more games to go and only 1 game separating us from the 6 to 4 spot. Then, our 1st rounder, Ricky Williams, and either M.Booker or our 4th round pick would be more than enough to entice San Francisco to give up the pick. Would the NY Jets do it? I don't know. Would the Packers do it? I don't know. But I'm pretty sure the 49ers would because they would aquire a top-notch RB to compliment F.Gore, a #2 WR (which would free up $3 million of cap space for us by the way), and still be able to draft a CB like J.Williams or M.Huff with the 1st round pick they aquire from us...filling 3 "major" needs that they have at a much cheaper price instead of spending all this $$$ on 1 pick. Then, they still have one of the top 2 or 3 picks in the 2nd round to add another starting caliber player...San Francisco would do that trade, trust me. Let's go Mueller...hope you read this. Then, we can always get our 4th rounder back by trading S.Madison and one of our 7th rounders so we don't really lose too much. Not to mention, we are looking to replace/upgrade "WR" and "CB" anyway! Combined, both of them would free up $5 million in cap space with this trade. We already have Ronnie Brown...so can we afford to lose Ricky Williams? Of course! We can re-sign S.Morris and sign a R.Dayne or N.Davenport to replace him. Deal makes ALL THE SENSE IN THE WORLD!!! Go Phins!!!

Olsen is going to play better today...so get ready for the DREW OLSEN bandwagon to be making stops on Finheaven....though i myself am i a Brady Quinn/Jay Cutler or sign David Carr guy

what time is the game on?

4 o'clock on ABC! Don't forget to check out Vince Young at 1 o'clock...just in case he decides to forfeit his senior year and decide to come out.

Drew Olsen is good, he isn't a product of a system like some people beleive he is. Would any other QB in his spot only throw 3 INTs compared to 30 TDs? I doubt that, he doesn't make alot of mistakes and has a high completion percentage in fact he is leading the entire NCAA in QB rating. He has the tools. And no other QB would bring their team back from behind and win games as much as he has. He has good size and good skills and is a great leader as evidenced by the number of successful comebacks he's lead

I agree, that and he throws longer balls than Leinart proves that he has good decision making, that and his only weapon to throw to is a TE.

I don't think Olson will go past the 2nd round. Fans may not covet his achievements but I'm pretty sure coaches and GMs do. Hope phins get him if they can't get Brady Quinn.
