Dolphins fans, take note: Highly competent Beth Mowins this year became the first woman to call an NFL game on TV in 30 years, when ESPN used her on 2nd game of opening MNF double-header. And CBS now has assigned her (with Jay Feely) to Dolphins-Bills Dec. 17.

Matt Moore is out this week as Miami Dolphins backup quarterback. So David Fales again.

The @Patriots have re-signed former @MiamiDolphins LB Jonathan Freeny. He takes the roster temporarily opened by Rob Gronkowski's one-game suspension.

Whhhatt? A woman can be competent at calling a football game? Pretty shameful that it's taken this long while people like Jimmy Cefalo are still poorly calling games.

Wish Pouncey was out so that we could see Brendel at center for a whole game

Ozzy rules!!

Yep, it seems like both time Pouncey went out this year, the team magically started playing better. I still think that he gives away when the ball is going to be snapped.

I recall tons of dudes saying she was horrendous in Week 1. I didn’t watch so I don’t personally have any reference.

She was very informed and knew both the Chargers and Broncos and their storylines. She was placed with Rex Ryan who was unprepared and unable to move any discussion forward. She did at least a decent job during play by play.

God forbid she gets a chance over some of the CBS retreads they roll out

How bout if she ends up being not great then it's just that she's not great. No need to make it a war on gender. There are tons of women that have been involved in sports tv, reporting ...etc for many years.

What exactly happened to Williams? Shoulder?

She was ok, but frankly, there was nothing special about her. Her performance was not "highly competent" as Barry Jackson says - it was merely competent. And if I'm being completely honest, I found it a bit wooden - perhaps she was trying to modulate her voice so as not to sound too "hysterical" on the exciting plays, but the result sounded clinical and flat to me. Personal taste I suppose.
