13th pick who you be taking?

Seems like a Chop clone. With Phillips, Chubb and Chop it feels like a luxury pick

A clone? No. A great pass rusher? Yes.

But, to me, if you pass on Pearce Jr for anyone other than Carter, Hunter Jr, or (maybe) Graham, you're skipping tiers - as those are the only true Top 10 players in this class. The only guys who have the combination of skill and talent that should make it easy to see their greatness - and who also play high-value positions.

So, that talk of luxury picks goes out the window.

he's a one trick pony. can't afford that with the shite Grier has built

He's not going to last that long

Trenches are always overlooked. That's why there are so many begging for Warren lol. Taking trench players is like eating your vegetables... nobody really wants to do it but they're super beneficial and later on you'll be happy you did when you're reaping the rewards
No doubt. Look at Philadelphia for proof.

Getting a little extra money in free agency helps every team obviously, but that could be big for Miami.

As things stand now, getting at least one starting guard upgrade in free agency is a must. I think the Dolphins also need a corner in free agency. Mid-level types, then bargain hunt for other needs (safety, tight end, linebacker).

The Dolphins secondary has always been a strength under Grier, but it's looking very iffy right now. If they don't get a corner in free agency, you can move that position way up. Not sure there's value at 13, but it's hard to see Bonner, Kohou or Smith starting opposite of Ramsey. An injury to Ramsey would also be hard to overcome. Holland also figures to sign elsewhere, so who are the safeties?

He is in no way a 1-trick pony.

As a pass rusher, he wins outside, inside, or through the tackle.

No one in this (famously talented and diverse) Edge class posted a higher run-stop %.

He also has a pick-6, where he was clocked running 23 mph. College times are always faster than NFL times, because of some weird difference in the way they measure it, I guess? But, only 14 other CFB players hit 23 mph in 2023 (when he hit that mark), so he was flying.

Anyway, you can see his combination of power and quickness leads to some devastating and immediate wins. He's a special pass rusher, and he's physical in the run game.

Guard, LB, S are the positions I'd target in FA.

Edge, DT, and TE are the positions I'd target in the draft, and there are specific RB's and WR's I'd consider at specific points. There are very specific OL I'd consider at 13 and 48, but in general, I'd pass on this OL class, which is why OG in FA is particularly important.

Agree. I hope Miami positions itself to not have to go offensive line early. Depth picks later, sure.

No WR after Tet is worthy for 13
No OG or OT is worthy for 13
Warren, Walker, Nolan, Stewart, Grant seem worthy

My 2 cents:
From previous post, Pearce was a much more impactful defender in the SEC than Mykell Wiliams this year. I feel the same way about Williams as I do Malachai Starks, like them both but neither one should be our first pick

Yes, we should target G and S in free agency but we're only going to have enough money, imo, for 1 each in FA. we're going to have to find a rookie at each spot who can contribute at guard and safety and I like the guards and swing tackles in this draft and the safeties.

I agree that DT and TE should be priority positions in this draft but as much as I want Tyler Warren or Walter Nolan I'd rather roll the dice with a better OL at 13 in Banks, Membou or Booker and then get the BPA in rounds 2 and 3. There should be really good DTs and TEs at 48 and 98.

Mykel Williams is 20 pounds heavier, same height

This is true, but who has more reps putting OT's on their asses?

I do like Williams. He's super talented. Pearce Jr is also super talented, but he's an elite pass rusher. Williams is a projection as a pass rusher, and you can grade to the flashes, but I wouldn't let 20 lbs make me choose a projection over an elite player.
