During the recent NFL Annual Meeting in California, Commissioner Roger Goodell shared that he will introduce a proposal to the owners in May to expand the regular season from 16 games to 18, no sooner than the 2011 season. The obvious reasons for this include: elimination of meaningless preseason games, opportunity to introduce more neutral site games (e.g. Toronto and London), and increased programming opportunities for the NFL Network.
