Diego Armando Maradonna was the best Ever to play the game!! Ever!! hes the Wayne gretzky of Soccer!!

Leo Messi will be a top 5 also !!! GOOOOOOOOOOO ARRRRRRRjeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Hey Dom I dont think you like Diego Maradonna.

He is soooooo Old School most people will have forgotten about him. But yes, you would have to put him, probably in third place behind Maradona and Pele... I would say

1.- Maradona
2.-Pele
3.-Distefano
4.-Johan Cruiff
5.-Franz Beckenbauer

(and no George Best... ever....)

Maradona said: "George inspired me when I was young. He was flamboyant and exciting and able to inspire his team-mates.

"I actually think we were very similar players - dribblers who were able to create moments of magic.

"And I can also relate to what George has been through because of his addiction to alcohol. I was also very sick and close to death in December last year - but I pulled out of it by a miracle,"

Johan Cruyff, the former Holland international and one of the few players who could stand comparison with Best, described his talent as "unique".

He told Radio Five Live: "What he had was unique, you can't coach it."

Asked if Best was one of the game's greatest, Cruyff said: "I think if you talk about Europe, you talk about five or six and if you talk about his qualities he'd always be in there.

"It was a short career but if you go back to the basic qualities he was exceptional."

Pele, regarded by many as the greatest player in history, told Sky Sports News: "I often mentioned George Best as the best player in Europe. Unfortunately, he has passed away.

"George Best for me was one of the biggest players in Europe. God bless him."

Too bad 3 of your greatest players do not agree with your assumption that George Best never belongs there.

they don't know what they are talking about

Yeah I always see him saying Best. Best was good but not the best ;)

Honestly, I do think Diego was better than Georgie, but people seem to leave out George when they talk about top 5 greatest. And I definitely think he deserves to be in the top 5.

The "Pele good, Maradona better, George Best" is a fun comment to rile up the Maradona fans. :D

To be honest... and this is going to sound like complete blasfemy to ya... I hadn't ever heard of Best as one of the best players ever until you started bringing him into consideration... I always thought Bobby Charlton was supposed to be England's best.

It might be because Best was actually from Ireland, so he played for Man Utd but he didn't play for England. That's probably why you think Charlton was England's best.

I think a lot of my admiration for George is the lore behind him and his bad boy type image. He was a great player that missed out on a lot of exposure world wide because the Northern Ireland teams just weren't that good. If I wasn't a Man Utd fan, I probably would only know of him from a few goal highlights they show on some of FIFA's videos.

It's kind of sad that Diego looked up to George for his play and now appears to be following him in death too. :( Just too many similarities in their play and lifestyles.
