Thank the Lord I found this at the start and I hope they archive it.

I am absolutly THRILLED to now have five minutes of the 1966 season. This is the first time I have ever seen anything like this available to us. I swear, the Miami Dolphins are doing a fabulous job of providing us with great video.

You must watch the video they have put up...

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]COUNTDOWN TO CAMP DOLPHINS 2006[FONT=Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][SIZE=-1]On July 5, 1966, 83 players reported to St. Petersburg, Fla. for the inaugural Miami Dolphins Training Camp. That year The Sound of Music won Best Picture, a first-class stamp cost five cents and Star Trek premiered the same week Joe Auer returned the opening kickoff in Dolphins history 95 yards for a touchdown. Starting Sunday, June 18, fans will be able find interesting tidbits like these and relive the past 41 seasons of Dolphins football as the team counts down the 41 days to the start of the upcoming "Camp Dolphins," which is scheduled to begin on July 29.</B>

With anticipation growing for the Miami Dolphins' 2006 season and Super Bowl XLI, which will be played at Dolphin Stadium on February 4, 2007, the team will flashback daily at each of its 41 years of rich tradition. Every day www.miamidolphins.com will feature rare video footage, results, statistics and photos recapping a particular season, while also reminding fans of major American events, sports champions, entertainment news and other fascinating facts from that time.

Thanks for the link....that's really cool!

I can hardly believe how little attention this "pearl" of a video is getting...I have waited 41 years to find something like this, it should be required watching for all Dolphin fans...It is the BEGINING... so watch it...

Wow, what a trip down memory lane that was. I was 13 years old in 1966 when we moved from NJ to Florida. We were staying on St. Pete Beach until our house in New Port Richey was ready. The Dolphins, then the ONLY pro sports franchise in the state in ANY sport, were working out outside their quarters at the "Happy Dolphin Inn" (I'm not making this up, its now a Pinellas county parking lot) and preparing for their first practice on a sea shell laden field at Boca Ciega High School in St. Pete. I became a fan on the spot!

Thanks for the link and the memories.

I knew you would like the reference to the "first" practice :) and I was thinking of you when I posted this. I was buzzing around jazzed up for hours last night after stumbling across this, prolly because I'm a geezer and remember the days first hand. All our young guys should be watching and learning, after we croak it will be their job to carry on and this is a great place to start...at the begining. If this was a Bua hit video there would be a hundred posts by now...

I just checked, 1967 isn't up yet

This is great man. Although I didn't become a fan until 84', I haven't seen anything like this that shows the beginning. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. So I guess the idea is to give a highlight reel each day.

PS. How do you save the video? I cant save through Real Player.

I wish they had panned the crowd of that first practice and then I could have shown you guys what a 1966 version of a geek looked like!

EDIT: THIS DOES NOT WORK...
Right click on the link before you open it...save target as: and go.

I also copied all the stats into Word. I'll put together a folder as it gets bigger so I have it all in MY documents.

shoot, later that year and the next one my "pop" warner football team went to practice and they let us ON the field. I have caught a football from Wood, Stofa, Griese and Wilson and had "personal" linebacking lessons from John "Bull" Bramlett....and I'll bet your eyes weren't any bigger than mine...I was like WOW the whole time. To bad those days are gone forever.

When I save this way it only saves the link to the file......not the actual video.
