Some of us remember when another new coach came to town and turned the Dolphins into winners. The year was 1970 and the coach was Don Shula. The previous year, the Dolphins finished 3-10-1 under Coach George Wilson. Shula, in his first year, took the Dolphins to 10-3-1 and a 2nd place finish in the AFC East which earned them a playoff berth against Oakland. They lost that game 21-14.
The next year, the Dolphins won the AFC Championship. They lost to the Cowboys 24-3 in the Super Bowl.
The following year they went undefeated, winning their first Super Bowl and thus started down the road to be being the winningest franchise in the NFL since the merger.
I think it's a nice comparison.

Good post!
We can hope our team keeps up what they are doing.Miami and Atlanta are both turning alot of heads.
Let's take this to the Super Bowl!

Pre-Free Agency, a different era altogether but I would love to start a winning tradition once again!

I am hoping that history will repeat itself. It all started with a game-managing QB in Bob Griese, a two-pronged running attack in Csonka and Kiick, good, but not great WR's with the exception of Paul Warfield (Was he here in '70 or '71?) and a pretty good defense. The whole team was a bunch of no-names who were well-coached and well-disciplined. They got little respect and were laughed at as the team with "Howard Johnson" colors.

Looks like I'm the only one reading this thread, but did anyone notice that Armando Salquero did a story in the Herald on this very topic this morning? I wonder if he reads this forum?
