Very impressive and undefeated to boot. Yet they are not given their due as the best ever.

And they were still the underdog in the SB that year!

That was still NFL superiority over the AFL still presiding...Miami got their butt kicked the year before in Super bowl 6

Yep, the vaunted Steel Curtain of Pittsburgh was #2 in points and #2 in yards ... and we had to go TO PITTSBURGH to beat them in Three Rivers Stadium because playoffs back then were on a divisional rotation basis ... so despite having the best record, it was an away game ... and we still beat them.

How many players from the Steel Curtain are in the Hall of Fame? It's a travesty that none of Dick Anderson, Manny Fernandez, Bill Stanfill or the other very deserving No Name Defense players are in there besides Nick B. The Dolphins do not get nearly as much credit as they deserve for that team and that era. If the team was in New York, it would be mentioned 100 times more often.

no team has done all that in the same season, except the 72 team. **** anyone who bashes them. they can kiss my ****ing ass if they bash the 72 team.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me scratch my head every time someone on here mentions how they wish the record would be broken so people would shut up about it, or these dumb "would you trade the perfect season for a SB win right now?" threads.

The 1972 Dolphins accomplished the greatest ever feat in professional sports, period. (Bonus: there was no suspect of them cheating to accomplish it).

NFL was initially dominant, and won the 1st 2 Super Bowls.

But then the AFL/AFC won every Super Bowl from #3 - #11, except #6.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Super_Bowl_champions

So for Super Bowl #7, I don't think NFL/NFC "superiority" really existed.

You forgot that Baltimore....an NFL team that was moved to the AFC at the merger in 1970 won Super bowl 5.

So in reality...the NFL won 1, 2, 5 & 6 leading up to Super bowl 7...and there was still that perception when that game was handicapped...so I'm afraid your wrong.

Besides those facts ....I am old enough to have watched Super bowl 6 & 7...and I know for a fact it was viewed that way.

Yes, and the much criticised by Dolphin fans (younger ones) hall of fame Dolphin QB Bob Griese had to come off the bench ...coming back from injury and lead a come from behind win....on the road....against that great Steelers team.

The 70's teams were a punch you in the mouth, were coming right for ya team. The defense knew what we were going to do and couldn't stop it. It still gets me pumped up to think we never lost a game that year. And still rock the record. Perfectville pop 1

Add to that, Miami had to win most of those game with their backup QB, just to add a bit more to how amazing that team was. Most teams lose their starting QB, and they fold, that team came together even more, and became one of the best (If not the best) teams ever assembled.

It was not just talent (Even though they did have plenty), it was not Coaching (Even though they had some of the best), the reason that team was and is one of the best to ever play the game, is because the team had HUGE heart, they would bleed, feel huge pain from injuries, and at points at almost total exhaustion, but every game they refused to quit, they refused to allow themselves to lose.

Yeah...but...remember...Earl Morrall was the NFL's MVP in 1968....and the winning quarterback in Super bowl 5....so we're not talking about Matt Moore here.
