1974 AFC Championship on ESPN 2 right now!!

Thank God I wasn't alive when this happened...I would've had a heart attack...or probably would have started breaking things lol

I wonder if Csonka, Kiick and Warfield regret leaving the fins and potential dynasty...if it wasn't for that exodus we would've been the team of the 70's

I have to say thank god I was not alive to see the sea of hands game lol.

Hard to say how we would`ve fared for the rest of the decade. `74 was Pittsburghs first SB, `75 they had a great team. Losing Csonka, Kiick and Warfield no doubt hurt, but Zonk missed rushing for 1,000 yds for a fourth straight year by a couple hundred, I think. I remember watching that game and being absolutely crushed that we lost. Youtube has it and I`ve watched it there plenty. Great video of Fernandez clocking a Raiders fan, who had run onto the field immediately after the game and cheapshotted Buonticonti. Manny lays the fan out!

Always angers me to see the blatant trap on Branch's long touchdown. Between that and the fluke ending, I still can't accept that loss. It was cool to see Fernandez take that idiot Raider fan's head off after he punched Buonticonti.

By the way, that wasn't the AFC Championship game. The Raiders lost that to the Steelers the next week.

I would still be having nightmares of that game had I been around back then. To think our beloved team hasn't owned the title of "world champions" since that day. :(

You wonder if thet did the home field advantage the way it's done today if we might have won that game in Miami.

The reason we didn't three-peat in 1974 was simple...the loss of defensive guru Bill Arnsparger.

I was 8 years old when this happened. I cried when we got beat. There is no way we should have lost this game. Stabler threw it falling down and the ball should have been picked off or slapped down. Luckiest throw ever. The sad part is Benny Malone scored the go ahead TD with a couple minutes left. Had he just fallen down near the goal line it would have been first and goal. We could have run the clock down and kicked the winning FG to win it 22-21.

That was my first year as a Dolphins fan, I was 7, I still remember how sad I was because Csonka, Kiick and Warfield were leaving for the WFL.
It was the day the dynasty died.
I still think if those 3 guys hadn''t left for the WFL, we could have delayed the Steelers' run by a couple of years.
Our defense still had another decent year before age and injuries caught up with it in 1976 when we went 6-8, one of Shula's only 2 losing seasons in 33 years of coaching.
