With DET taking QB Matthew Stafford at #1, STL taking LT Eugene Monroe at #2, who will KC take at #3?

I believe this is where it first gets a little tricky in the draft. KC had an awesome draft last season by getting some really great pieces to build their franchise around in DT Glenn Dorsey, LT Brandon Albert, and CB Brandon Flowers...all in last year's draft.

They also recently drafted WR Dwayne Bowe and of course still have RB Larry Johnson, TE Tony Gonzalez, and CB Pat Surtain...

The Offense is good and they still have the 2nd round pick Brodie Croyle as a young QB, but QB Tyler Thigpen performed very good last season. "But", Thigpen is only 6'1"!!! That's short for a QB.

Does Croyle still have a chance to win the QB spot and be the future? Is Thigpen alright at QB, even though he is only 6'1" but a nice 228 LBS.

Well, that leaves question marks at the most important position of the game. But that "does" mean that they can use a franchise QB like Mark Sanchez.

But is Sanchez worth the #3 pick having only played one season as a starter? Hmm?

They have Dorsey, who could come in to his own in 2009, but they absolutely suck at DE. They have no pass rush on the edge.

So they need a QB, but they also need a premier pass rusher outside.

Will they be able to land a pass rusher at pick #34 and pass on say, Aaron Curry and pick Mark Sanchez? Or can they find a QB (already having Thigpen and Croyle) at #34 like a Josh Freeman so that they "can" take Aaron Curry?

Then, Curry is an OLB, which of course they could use...but they play a 4-3. The 4-3 likes to use the DE as the main pass rusher. Now of course, Dorsey is going to provide pass rush up the middle eventually...but is Curry better suited for the 3-4?

Well, a 4-3 can still use a playmaking OLB like Curry blitzing the QB, so that isn't really the main debate here....

The debate is...is OLB Curry at #3 and QB Josh Freeman at #34 better than Mark Sanchez at #3 and an OLB like Sintim or Cushing or an English or Matthews at #34???

I say they go for OLB Aaron Curry at #3 and go for a QB like Josh Freeman at #33 if they feel Thigpen aint the guy.

But I'm also torn with KC going with QB Mark Sanchez to get that potential franchise QB and going with an OLB like a Cushing, Sintim, English, or even a Matthews in the 2nd round.

PLus their can be a DE like last year's Philip Merling slipping into the 2nd round too. So Mark Sanchez also makes sense. But Curry is a beast and more sure pass rusher.

Or do they go DE like Brian Orakpo at #3?

So what do they do? Aaron Curry? Mark Sanchez? Brian Orakpo? What yall think.

Thigpen was the guy if Herm stayed, they managed 9 sacks on the year and had a player lead the team in sacks with 3. I think defense might be an easy target especially with no great QB prospect, I believe (and voted) B.Orakpo would be a nice fit but the new coach will have a great say in that.

I think the Curry might be the safest pick here. The Chiefs should give Thigpen more time to develop and I think Orakpo is to risky IMO.

i would take an OL if was the chiefs GM

There is a reason why an OL was "not" on the poll....KC has a solid OL. They drafted Brandon Albert last season remember? Then, they can always add depth with high picks in the rest of the draft.

They need to bring "D" to KC. They have no pass rush and you see and I have been hearing so many on this forum crying out how "DEFENSE" is what wins championships, remember?

KC will pick Aaron Curry. Pretty obvious. Looks like not too many are interested in getting informed before the draft comes up so I guess I'll move on to #4, SEA.

Not a lot posting responses or even on the polls...:boohoo:

They have to go QB...whether they like it or not...what they have is pathetic.

It all depends on what kind of coach they hire. I think they go with Sanchez or the bet OT available - Monroe or Smith.

It will the DE/DT for sure.

Qb sanchez needs time to develop which means it will never happen especially when scott has seen the correct way to get QB is to develop a guy with good size .Sitting him behind a qb for 1 or 2 yrs and then bring him along.

How abt trade 2nd rd for matt casell and then draft a DL guy to pair with dorsey.then get a guard later.

I think Thigpen showed enough promise last year to at least deserve to be their opening day starter next year. Whether their new coach and front office feel that way is a different story. Offense wasn't the big problem last year in KC, as our game against them goes to show that offense was capable of putting up points with Thigpen at QB.

The defense was their biggest problem, and they really could have used Jared Allen rushing the QB last year. A pass rushing DL would probably be their biggest need, but is Orakpo really worthy of being the third player selected? I think not.

Curry is arguably the top defensive player in this draft and would immediately help out their LB corp. I say he would be the pick in this scenario.

i completely agree

some offensive linemen wouldn't hurt also... if you really want to see what thigpen's got, you need to give him tools to work with. Right now their offensive line is falling appart, their WR corps isn't good but is not a pressing need also
