Who will we get?

Keep in mind one thing. Denny was the one who really built the Oline at Minny with BIG bodies. Linehan came into that system and the line is what gave that team alot of time to make the downfield throw (and Culpepper's feet of course). IF Denny cuts this guy loose what does it say about him. As much as I'd like to see some BIG beef on the line and have the guys up front start dominating I don't see this guy as the answer. For all that are saying he will cost too much - WHY? Who is going to pay him and with what money? The Cards couldn't give him away so who is going to jump out and give him big bucks. I just don't think he has the talent or Denny would have kept him.

Now if he could play center......

David Bowens is as good as gone.

There is another 2 million.....

I dont think he free's up 2mil if cut, I think it would be somewhere around 900k. Mcintosh(sp) played LT for Houck in SD. I think we will be fine with him until we get a better replacement.

Shelton has played LT the past four seasons.

He will continue to do so.....
Yeah, that's what I thought but now I'm a bit confused. VanDolPhan said he played RT. According to one Arizona Cardinal depth chart I looked at, it had him at back-up LT to Leonard Davis.

According to NFL.com

Leonard Davis: http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235207
Started 60 out of 60 games during the past 4 seasons. I'm assuming at LT?

L.J. Shelton: http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/133410
Started 77 out of the last 82 games... at RT I'm assuming??

I'm not sure if Shelton is a natural LT or RT, but he's been playing RT for Arizona it seems like. Also, if we got him, I definitely think he would be playing LT for us. I honestly don't think we need him nor do I think we will get him.

EDIT: and yet there's more... (Just read from an NFL Article)

Shelton, selected in 1999 out of Eastern Michigan, started 77 of 82 games he played for the Cardinals over the past six seasons, mainly at left tackle
Now if Leonard Davis is there best player on their O-line and is a natural LT, where is he playing? I'm really confused.

"After spending his first five years as the left tackle, moved to right tackle prior to 2004"

He was moved after getting in Green`s "doghouse".

Well, the guy has a 2.8 million dollar cap hit for this year.

His "dead cap" number after June 1st is $632,500.

He is only signed thru 2005 so I dont see any other bonus money being accelerated.

But then again, I can barely balance my checkbook ......Where is clumpy?

It sounds as if the front office really expects Traylor to sign real soon with us. There are rumors that he is the needed plug to change us up to a 3-4 (see si rumor section). as for shelton, he really didnt get along with dennis green but is a very good player, unfortunatley he is on the free agent market and wants to get paid like everyone else. I just dont see us poning up the money for him.

i would love to have both shelton and traylor but i odnt c it happening, but i do see traylor happenening because we've been tlaking to him for awile

Traylor is a definite possiblility because he will probably sign for the league minimum or at least an incentive type contract.

LJ Shelton, although I think he'd add something to the team, I don't think he'll sign here because of the dollars. Besides that, I know that an article in the papers said that the Fins had committed to McIntosh that they would not go after a LT in FA or the draft...Now, that brings me to another question...is LJ a LT or a RT ?? I know he played LT the last couple of years, but I think he was a RT coming out of college..I could be wrong...Could it happen that we sign LJ and cut Big Mac ?? Just a thought...
