My hope in free agency is atleast one top tier tackle and guard with a playmaking safety. The rest good drafting. What say you?

Eugene Monroe and Zane Beadles are absolutely necessary signings. Though, id be happy with Veldheer and Asamoah too. We can use our first pick to get an RT, and then restructure Wallace's contract.

Good points, we do need to get at least 2 OL and a safety in FA, however, we need a DT in free agency. We can't go into the draft HAVING to get 2 DTs.

Would love to come out of FA with 2 O linemen and Byrd. IMHO we also need to either resign one of our DT or go get another.

To me, perfect free agency.

Veldheer
Saffold
Jairus Byrd
Red Bryant
Starks

That's a lot of money, but you'd have 60% of your O line set, D line set, and a game changer at safety. Draft well and it could be a big year.

Sounds good. But the Safety market is ultra-thin. There are only high end guys like Jarius Byrd and 2nd tier guys. Of that 2nd tier, I think Clemons may be the best, so I'd prefer re-signing him honestly. This is compounded by the fact that the draft for Safety I horrid. There are two clear top propect, both of whom tested poorly at the combie, and then it drops from 1st round talent down to 4th round talent. While I'm not adverse to taking a mid round flyer on a safety, I'm reticent to start that rookie.

The OL issue is the more problematic to me. I want a top tier pass protector at LT, but with the price Monroe may command, we may not be able to afford a 2nd OL guys like Beadles.

Our free agency recent history is kind of interesting. We rebuilt the DL at a great savings with Starks, McDaniels, Shelby, etc. IMHO, that was where Ireland really excelled. We wooed Cam Wake from Canada, which was a coup. We paid a lot of guys big money along the OL and they came but didn't work out long term. We paid big money for LB's and that hasn't worked out. We paid for FA WR's and traded for another, and thus far they haven't worked out (but I have faith Wallace will come good). I'm scratching my head to find many good FA acquisitions that we didn't pay top dollar to get. Outside of the DL (including Cam Wake who plays DE/OLB), it seems we really haven't done too well in free agency and we have only gotten guys for top dollar.

So, if we want to fix our OL via FA, then we may have to overspend a bit.

Just read this on ESPN...

Wesley Woodyard, LB, Denver Broncos: After laying claim to the title of NFL's best coverage linebacker in 2012

We need to sign this guy asap. All our linebackers cannot cover worth a damn. We should definitely look into evaluating this guy.

To me a perfect free agency would be:

Eugene Monroe
Geoff Schwartz
Stevie Brown the Free Safety
Wesley Woodyard

We would be superbowl contenders without even the draft happening yet. That is a lot of cash but I think we would have enough with 6-8 mil for rookies.

If we get 2 olineman in FA and loose Paul and Starks I'd draft DT with first pick

I think you nailed it. We all have to be realistic enough to know the Dolphins will have to overpay to get players to come here right now. And the salary cap will not allow them to sign 5 or 6 free agents. I see no reason why they can't sign LT-Eugene Monroe, RT- Austin Howard and FS-Jarius Byrd in FA. They can then address the other needs in the draft which will give them plenty of flexibility.

My thoughts...

Albert (Allows Miami a few years (3-4) to find a draft replacement for the future.) Free Agent 9-10 Mil or Monroe Free Agent 9-10 Mil.
Saffold (G, but can play LT/RT.) Free Agent 5-6 Mil Per Year

Z. Martin (Rookie G / RT) 1st Round
D. Dozier (Rookie G) 3rd Round

Miami has the cap. Miami had the worst OL in the NFL and perhaps the history of the Fins! It is going to take lots of cap space, bonus money, and luck in the draft to right this ship within a couple seasons. It takes OL time to gel and Miami could see up to 4 new members on the OL. They need to get busy now and start the build that could take 2-3 years to make a respectable OL that helps us win games.

They need LT and G in FA. If so OL will be improved over last year. Thomas/Brenner will be improved next year and may play Guard.

I think they find a suitable S in FA after signing the 2 OL.

That's what I'm hoping for realistically...I want all the elites but again I hope we get a stud LT and guard and a playmaking safety..Clemons is solid but I want turnovers

I like this idea. Then address guard in the draft. We would have 2 rookie guards with proven veterans on both sides of them. This would allow us to draft guard deeper in the draft and be in position to select BPA.

Being realistic, no way we get Monroe and Aalbert in FA. I'll be ecstatic with one of the two and a guard already mentioned. If we Starks and Big Paul, we need to move quick as poor LB play and no push inside equals a high pick in the draft next year. I like what little I see of Hickey so far, he's not sitting on his thumbs.
