2 personnel decisions that cost us the game

Nolan Carroll over Will Allen and the cutting of Lou Polite.

I have no respect right now for our coaching staff. These two players were not just solid contributors to our team, but IMPORTANT pieces to a currently incomplete puzzle. With Polite, we'd be 18 points ahead of where we were when we ended the game (2 goal line stands, 1 ended in field goal, 1 ended with turn over on downs)

Brady manhandled Nolan Carroll. Will Allen would have at least stepped in front of a pass or wrestled the ball away. In a game that was seemingly close up until 4th qtr, we needed his veteran experience.

This really bothered me, because most games you can go back and question playcalls or question strategy or execution. I can't believe I have to question who the dolphins decided to cut and who they let stay on their team.

For shame, Miami.
 
I agree. Lou Polite wouldn't of been able to make any holes last night though. That **** with Solai..lol..he must not of known you can hit people on Offense. I was jacked when I saw him come in, then the play happened and I just /facepalm.
 
My 2 decisions:

Jones over Clemmons . . . dumb move
Not doing a better job of addressing the need for a pass rusher.
 
it wasn't just Carrol that sucked, but Benny Sapp got used and abused as well. I agree we should have kept Polite but idk if he would have gotten us anymore TD's or not because this OL couldn't block anyone.
 
I was talking to my friend the day that we cut Will Allen and I told him that it was stupid because if we would have kept him then we would have the ability to cover THREE #1 WRs from opposing teams. Looks like we could have really used him last night against Aaron Hernandez and Gronkowski,
 
While I agree Allen would have at least lined up in the right spot before the snap of the ball and not looked half as pathatic as Carrol, I'm not sure he has enough left in the tank to be a solid contributor for the whole season. An upgrade, yes; a quality upgrade, no.
 
It was dumb cutting Will Allen, but he wouldn't have made that much of a difference last night unless you were putting him at FS.

18 points? What? Does Polite play Defense? How exactly would Polite, an average on a good day FB have made an 18 point difference? I seriously need to know this answer! Don't tell me he would have punched the ball in himself at the goal line. Guy rarely played in those situations the last few years. Or was he going to open up running lanes last night. Something he failed to do last year which is the reason he's unemployed.
Get over him already. He's vastly overrated on this board.
 
We could have put both of those guys on the field last night an ran 12 players and I still think the Pats beat us...... 1 or 2 players does not get us to the level of the Pats......sometimes a team is better coached with better players with a better game plan....time to get over the loss and look towards Houston.....
 
Addressing multiple comments about Polite: I've seen him plow over people and get yards where there were none. I think the shift in going vertical has hindered our ability to go up the middle or even up and over. I didn't see LJ in there once, either, but I could be wrong. We don't have anyone to rush in between the tackles and again, that's on Sparano.

Addressing comments re: Pass Rush- Maybe it was me, but I saw COUNTLESS holding on the Pat's O-line. I know a lot of people start whining for flags when we're losing, but I watched that rookie wrap his arms around Wake and pull him back and forth multiple times, with only one blatant time drawing the flag (because Wake actually got a hand on Brady) Not saying Wake couldn't have had a better game, but the zebras were calling Miami for passing gas on the line and the Pats were getting away with murder.

Addressing comments on Will Allen: Allen is tough. He might not have been able to hit every down, but he would have recognized what was happening, made correct decision making, and who knows. One of those vital 3rd downs that led to a score for NE could have been deflected and led instead to a punt. The guy is a brilliant corner, you just don't let that knowledge go like that.

My bad, 11 points. It's early and my math is the only thing overrated. Polite was consistent on every fourth down (and most 3rd and shorts) we used him for. We bust him up the middle, the guy is a train and a PROVEN scorer. Instead of a field goal, he nets us a TD (point differential of +4) and instead of a turnover on downs, we get another TD (+7) so 11 points, not 18. But good catch on my math.
