first..... the Dolphins do not need to hire Bates as a coach.. this is clearly now a rebuilding job and we do not need a coach with strong ties to the older vets. Carter, Zgonina, Wilkinson, Traylor should be gone and if we can get some value for Taylor/Thomas do it!! we need to bring in someone totally committed to the Miami Dolphins and it should be a GM who would pick the coach , etc.....

second... since it is a rebuilding job, we need to trade down and not up to get extra picks.. this team needs some serious youth at dline, linebacker and offensive line.

the Pats have Brady, the Bills and Jets are younger.. its going to take some time

agreed...we, as Dolphins fans, need to have realistic expectations. Let's not expect a Super Bowl in 2007-08...lets focus on adding talent through free agency and the draft and getting a winning attitude back before we mention the "SB" word again!

I agree to an extent. We do have Rod Wright, Fred Evans, Matt Roth and possibly Manny Wright. Channing would have just finished his senior year. Vonnie has years left he just had a great year. Jason Taylor will be back! Kevin Carter could possibly move inside for his last year or two. Will Allen, Travis Daniels, Y. Bell and Jason Allen are all young.

I would agree to that there is some youth on dline, but besides Roth most of it is unproven.. we cannot rely on 7th round draft picks and free agents to be the future...

Roth and Holliday should be back.. Taylor obviously if we cannot get anything reasonable for him and does not retire.. any decisions after that i can live with..

as far as the secondary, we again are a roster full of average defenders... Allen is a question mark...

we need to go back to the beginning of the JJ era where we got young talent.. hopefully this time it will be on both sides of the ball!!

We can definately get a nice pick for JT. I wouldn't want to see him go but face it...we are rebuilding now and by the time we are ready to compete-JT will most likely be ineffective for us. Maybe a 2nd from a team that is a few players away from taking it all? Seattle? Philly?
