Hello Finheaven, I've been visiting this site daily and finally decided to become part of the Finheaven family! Here is a brief report of what I thought about our beloved Dolphins in 2005...

The Record: 9-7

Most Impressive Win: Week 14 at Chargers

Coming into the game as heavy favorites, the Chargers were fighting for their playoff lives. They thought they would stomp all over the Dolphins on their home field, but someone forgot to tell the Dolphins. After a slow start, the Dolphins outscored the Chargers 17-0 in the 3rd quarter and shut down Drew Brees and LaDainian Tomlinson for the most part in the second half to hold the lead and a 23-21 victory.

Most Devastating Loss: Week 10 vs Patriots

Fighting for 1st place, the Dolphins came out fired up to take out their division rivals. After a Chris Chambers touchdown, the Dolphins were driving for another score until Randy McMichael fumbled inside the Patriots 10… that was the turning point of the game. The second half belonged to the Pats. Late in the 4th, the Dolphins were hanging in and a second Chambers TD gave the Dolphins a 1 point lead until the defense gave it right back on the next series. Last chance fails, Pats win 23-16.

Offensive MVP: WR Chris Chambers

Chambers was criticized for most of the first half of the season by the media and the fans. Criticized for his inconsistency, dropped passes, being too soft and running poor routes, many were giving up on Chambers as being a true number 1 receiver. It was time for Chambers to step up and prove the doubters wrong, and he did just that… catching balls all over the field, making plays after the catch, scoring touchdowns, and setting records. And when it was all said and done, Chambers ended the season with his best year yet. Finally hitting the 1,000 yard mark with 1,118 yards while catching 82 balls and 11 touchdowns… sending him to his first Pro Bowl. Chambers has proved he is good enough to be a number 1 receiver.

Defensive MVP: LB Zach Thomas

Coming into the year, a lot of people were saying Zach Thomas’ best days were behind him and that he would be playing his last year in Miami. All season long, Thomas showed people he could still play. Even while battling injuries he was making plays all over the field, again leading the team with 157 tackles. Good enough to join teammates Chris Chambers and Jason Taylor in the Pro Bowl. He is the leader of the defense and proved why with his play and leadership in 2005.

Rookie Of the Year: CB Travis Daniels/LB Channing Crowder/RB Ronnie Brown

I’m sorry but I could not pick just one. All 3 of these guys played solid all year long. Of course they all had their share of rookie mistakes, but I was impressed with all of their overall play. Travis Daniels impressed me the most. As a 4th round draft pick, Daniels started at the left cornerback spot all year and played pretty well, making a lot of plays. Crowder also played very well on the defensive side of the ball, playing with a lot of intensity. On the offense, Ronnie Brown showed many flashes of being a stud RB. He has shown quick feet, good strength, and nice hands.
