Based upon our current personell and who we will keep io think that the dolphins wil pick their draftees loosely in this fashion. the order is after the Breakdown of the positions...

QB: Want to hear a fact today? The starting QB for the 2006 fins is already on the roster. Yup, you heard it here first and this is why: There is no way we will be able to stay competative next year with a rookie QB, and there will be a lack of free agents that can pick up the system quick. This by no means implies that we won't take a QB. Quite the opposite. I believe we will take a QB with one of our first day picks, unless the staff gets very comfortable with sage or cleo. Then expect to see a mid round pick at QB. No matter how you stack it this QB class is deep, and a QB will be selected. The only monkey wrench that i can see is if we switch offensive cordinators. In that case all bets are off, except in the fact that we will still pick a qb in some round.

WR: Our WR depth here is excellent, and none are getting up there in age. All are still below 30 years old. That being the case almost all of our recievers are around 26-29 years old. Sabn wil see this and pick a wide receiver that we can groom as an eventual replacement. That being the case i see a mid round being used on a guy with a lot of potential, but who is unready to start in the nfl. Chambers and gilmore are speed, booker and welker are possesion guys. Next year we could see derrious thompson back as he had a good year of PS before his injury. Boston may return if he can show that his knee is better. You can't really put to much blam e on a guy that tried to go out and play through a painful injury. We could see fred gibson be developed as the future replacement for booker. Curently though he is looking a little raw, but as we dont need him who cares.

RB: Depth here is excellent. I expect to see ricky back with the fins next year. His 4 game money suspension should be over now allowing the team to re-do his contract with-out any further worries. I think really has embraced his role. He no longer is the center, and that suits him just fine. As far as trade value he has none. He doesn't want to be the centerpiece anymore. He is one violation from a year long suspension. He is a labeled head case who quit. And most importantly he has more value if he stays with the fins. At the end of the last few games both of those guys are ready to play another full game. This extends both of their careers, and allows us more flexibility in game planning, and as insurance in case of injuries...Ronnie will be with the club for a long time, enough said. Sammy is a good utility back that is good on ST. he can fill in in a pinch and has good hands. He will have to fight to get re-signed next year...I think minor will be gone soon. His only contribution is ST. I think KJ might take Minors place. He was a surprise as he was good on ST, and he could turn into an excellent change of pace back with his large size (240 plus)...Barnes has showed some fire in his first game. He is a blocker and thats about it, if he keeps on hitting he will be re-signed. With all of this i still believe we may draft a RB, actually i believe we will draft a true H back. We will have to see how that eckel guy turns out also. Either way expect a low round pick on this position.

TE- We have done well so far in depth here. Mcmike has Grwatly improved his blocking (thanks to some coaching from HH) and is still a Red-zone threat. Lorenzo was a pleasant surprise this year, but with the limited amount of passes so far i don't see him getting that much more involved. He has done a good job in switching to the H-back role. We still have more depth here with alex holmes, and jason rader. i dont see another TE getting picked up.

OL- Say what you will but we are geting good results. I see mcdougal being realeased, and i am unsure if Seth will be re-signed. Wade was giving him a run for his money before he broke his arm. We have some developing talent with Berger, and alabi. They should both be ready for some playing time next year. ephraim i think will be let go. I can see a center being picked up anywhere from the 3rd round to the 7th round. it all depends if we will need them to start next year or if we want to develop them. Either way the line is getting better every single game. If this trend continues into next year i will sending a Christmas card to HH. He deserves a lot of credit by turning one of the worst lines in history, into a nice average unit. He needs to get a body guard before the texans kidnap him...

DT- Traylor is having a good season by having him sit out some plays to keep him fresh. The problem is we do not have a person on the roster to replace him. I really do see us picking up a "plugger" type DT in the draft. Vickerson showed promise before the injury(which turned out to be less sever than initially thought) Manny was a great pick-up. By next year he will be a year ahead had he stayed in college, and his contract is a whole lot cheaper. But as both of these guys are over 6'5" they do not match the pluber NT mold. Holliday may see more of his time eaten by these two guys. Zgonina prolly will be gone next year. BUT not until we find another back-up long snapper. If josh shaw bulked up some he might also be able to fill in at NT. A good stop-gap for next year could be to re-sign larry chester. He might fit in nicely.Especially after almost 2 years of rehab. I see a Mid round NT being chosen.

DE- Carter is locked up for at least till next year and he is doing a good job. Roth is not being a pass-rush threat yet, but his run stopping is starting to make people notice. I fel comfortable with roth and carter on the right side. Jt and bowens have done a good job so far, and both are signed up through at least the next 2 years. I could possibly see saban picking up a Hybrid DE/LB either in 2007, or in 2006.

LB- We will pick up a LB in this draft. Zach will most likely be with us again next year. Seau will most likely be gone. Crowder is really starting to elevate his game. We have young talent behind them with pope, and glen. But i really dont see them as starters down the road. Spragan has had mixed results so far. Either way we need a replacement for when zach leaves, and crowder moves to the inside.

CB- Honestly i actually feel comfortable here next year. Howard will be gone. Poole will be back. And we still have the talents of Shirondaya mitchell. I do not know if madison will be here next year. I really would be comfortable with Poole and daniels starting, Kiwaukee thomas at nickle, and mitchell at dime. But it would also be nice to keep sam's experience. either way we have the talent, it's just not healthy right now. on a side not daniels may switch to safety. i dont think saban will take a CB. but if he does it wont be on the first day...Sorry. Say what you will but these guys will get better once they really grasp the system. Case in point is daniels. He is prolly the least athletic of the bunch, but because he is comfortable he is the most dependable. if not in 2006, then we will pick up more talent in 2007.

S- That safety from LSU is looking pretty tempting. Hopefully we will re-sign schulters, if tillman finishes the season strong i see him as our starter in 2006. Never the less we need some young talent here i see the 3rdor 4th round pick being used on a safety.

K- we will bring in competition, but mare has returned to his former self. Booming KO's, and accurate FG's

P- Donnie jones leads the league in net punting. i really dont see a change here

LS- Denney had a rough first half, but he has settled in. Donnie wouldn't be doing so good if the snaps sucked.

So draft might look like this. I will put multible positions in the rounds, becasue saban will take the best player available regardless

1st-QB
2nd-NT/S/LB
3rd- NT/S/LB/C
4th-C/WR
5th on down- H-back/WR/OL

Thats about it. Pleas post some feedback...

Ide feel more comfortable getting a high profile CB in the offseason, FA or Draft..

Other than that, I think it looks good

We will draft a QB no matter what. Mueller basically said dont be surprised if we draft two. We need a bigtime WR and after Sabans "play on words", I think he will look for one. Otherwise, the OL is free agent material. Everything else will be defense. CB and Safety in particular with a DE and DT in the later rounds. This is where Saban will find his sleepers. i could actually see us picking up picks and trading down in the later rounds.

Pretty good analysis.

QB- We need one. Sorely. If we can, we should at least attempt to move up the draft to pick a future franchise QB like what NYG, Cincy, Pitts, and the Colts. True, the QB we draft isn't going to start instantly, but we need another QB other than Gus to start. But I think we should get one in the first round. I think drafting QB's in the later rounds is risker than the 1st round if you do your homework. For every Tom Brady, there's an AJ Feeley, Chris Simms, or John Navarre. Most QB's you see in the later rounds are just backups like Sage.

RB- we've got more depth than most teams, no needs here.

WR- They're good but could improve a bit. Giving Boston more time to rest and giving him a better training regiment could work. If not, a WR in the later rounds or a journeyman FA can fill the gap.

TE- See RB.

OL- I agree with you. D-Mac's solid but not elite, good enough for now. Mcdougle isn't going to find any takers since he's on a short contract. He can stay for another cheap 1 year deal. We're sorely lacking in Guard depth. Jeno James is the only LG on the roster. If we have a chance to land a Ogden/Pace/Jones like LT, we have to jump on it. Bringing back Middleton for another try in training camp wouldn't hurt.

DL- Totally agree. We have some rookies with skill but we need a widebody for the 3-4 and Wright/Vickerson are better for the 4-3 unless they gain size.

DE- I don't think we need help here, just helping Roth improve is good enough.

LB- Yea, we need some young help in case Seau is gone. We've had a good track record of drafting LBs, if you ignore Eddie Moore. Crowder, Pope, and even Bua were great picks. Spragan is terrible against the pass and can only blitz and maybe cover the run. He should be gone.

CB- We have young talent but we need veteran help at the starters spots while they grow. Somewhere in FA, possibly. But yea, I don't see him drafting one.

S- Resigning Schulters is a must. Jones maybe but we need to sign 1 FA and draft 1 and depth is solid.

ST- We're good here.

I disagree with not picking CB.

Like you, I think we are fine at CB, if none of our CBs get injued. In case we lose one, our lacking depth will really hurt us.

I disagree completely... Jacobs is out for the year, he won't declare (not that I care, I don't think he's that good), Vince Young told Texas he's staying, Quinn may or may not stay at ND, Stanton may stay or leave Mich St., etc...

The draft isn't all that deep, even if a few jr. come out. Leinart is still (and will be no matter what) the class of the field. After him, there may not be a QB selected in round 1 (combines and declarees could change that, but as of now this is probably ture.

we Do need to draft a cb there is no IF involved...i feel jimmy williams should be our pick and reggie coward should b history

what i would do:

1. cut-madison,howard,zgonina,seau
2.resign-morris,gilmore,schulters
3.free agents- best cb avaliable, kitna, bentley, another decent wr
4.draft-1st- jimmy williams or hawk, 2nd-cutler qb vandy, 3rd-jason allen, 4,5,6 bpa

i agree... this QB class is going to be so thin that you after leinhart u might not see another one taken till he 4th round

madison stays, cutler is not very good....

So now we have to hope that more QB's declare. If the draft is light at QB one or 2 will declare just because they know they will get picked, and the contract should be in a good price range.

Signing the best CB available (Charles Woodsen because Nate Clements will get the franchise tag) would defeat your "upgrade of the secondary" because Sam Madison is a better player and Woodsen wants rediculous money and could be the most overrated player in the sport.. Why cut Sam? He's already proven he'll redo his contract AND he is our best corner by a mile.

Seau will probably retire so we won't have to cut him.

Signing the "best CB available", "Kitna", "Bentley" and "another decent WR" is absurd. this team WILL NOT be built through free agency....Nick has stated this. Making all those signings would also destroy our cap structure (if we even have the cap room to sign a 5-7 million dollar CB, a 3-5 million dollar Q.B., a 3-4 million dollar center and a 2-3 million dollar reciever).

It's moot anyway because Bentley will get the franchise tag.
