I think Miami's QB for 2006 plays on one of the other 31 rosters. I don't know if that means it will be:

Drew Brees
Philip Rivers
Aaron Brooks
Matt Schaub
Kyle Boller
Joey Harrington
Dave Ragone
Patrick Ramsey
Rex Grossman
Drew Henson

or even somebody else. I just don't think Miami is going to take a highly touted rookie QB. I see the next draft focusing on a franchise left tackle, a center, a safety, a corner, a defensive tackle, and whatever other non-QB needs there happen to be.

I thought Carey was playing really darn good, and that we would not need a LT. maybe corner, but QB is still our most glaring problem, and if we are supposed to build through the draft...

I agree JJ....but I do still hold our for AJ. I think Bree's will have a good enough year..that Rivers will be available..and our QB possibly.

i voted boring.....all this qb stuff is starting to put me asleep....can we just play this season and let one of the two rough it out, and who knows maybe one will step up and take charge.......now that i think of it that should be an option

Me too. As if a highly drafted QB is a lock to succeed in the NFL, let alone be a "franchise QB"

So you will not be expecting much from Miami this year. Me, I hope we do so well we have no chance at any of those guys, unless they fall way way down.

Don't get me wrong, I want Miami to be the best team in football, and the sooner the better. However, I just don't see it this year. Give Saban 2-3 seasons to work his magic, and we'll be on top again, but I don't think we can compete for years to come unless 1. Feeley gets the starting job and pulls a Hasselbeck, or 2. We get a franchise guy in the draft.

I wish we could get Leinart, but I don't think we'll be that bad. I'm hoping Leak comes out and we get him if we can't get Leinart.

are people picking jacobs because they think we'd be in line to pick him, or because they think he's the best prospect?

The consensus seems to be that Carey is better suited to right tackle, partially because he's better at run blocking than pass blocking. That's where he'll apparently be starting this year now that McIntosh is playing left tackle with the first team.

Even if Carey were playing LT this year, the team could move him to the right for a true franchise LT like the ones coming out next year. This draft will be for that position what the draft that gave us Marino was for QBs.

Croyle is there cause i love his toughness. His skill level would probably have him as a 2nd-3rd rounder if he was healthy but hes had a couple serious injuries and he just keeps coming back back for more. Toughness and leadership are imperitive in a qb and he excels there. His arm and accuracy have proven solid if unspectacular.

Leinhart I feel a lot of his success was due Norm Chow. I dont think hes as talented as Palmer was. He can use this year to prove me wrong. He still has Bush, Smith and Jarrett there so the weapons are in place.

Agree with you on toughness and leadership. I'll make it a point to tune into a couple of Bama games this year and watch him play more closely. I know there isn't a ton of talent around Croyle so maybe he is better than he has looked. I really like Leinart, but there is no question he has a ton of weapons at his disposal. Still, he certainly appears to have everything you'd want in a qb except maybe for mobility. I love how he leads his receivers and seems to know when to take something off his throws. Looks like he has great field vision as well. The fact that Carson Palmer hasn't yet blossomed with Cincy may be a concern, though.

So since the college season is upon us, who else should I watch at the qb position. Would love any input.

Jacobs...

is the guy pro scouts drool over.

He is the guy I want...than maybe Leinart or Young (if he can prove to me that his arm is consistent enough)

im goin with jacobs. This year im gonna study college qbs to see which one weshould get.Omar is playin saturday vs. wisconsin who is pretty good.

Things bout jacobs

good
.relation to culpepper in game play
.big body
.golden arm
.mobility
.doesnt make mental mistakes
.if he makes a mistake he doesnt get an attitude

bad
.really nothin bad other than his throwing motion but not as bad as rodgers is

Bruce Gradkowski from Toledo. His only knock (like Frye and Big Ben) is competition level
