Well after witnessing some training camp practices I goota tell you that we will not be picking this high. At worth I see us as a 8-8 team. So I dont see us getting Leinart or
Jacobs.

It be awesome to get Omar Jacobs, but I doubt we will be picking that high.

If we go 8-8 with this team I would do everything in my power to trade up to get a Probowl caliber QB! I dont really see that many weaknesses on O. Its up to AJ and Gus. They either make or break this Offense. If they break it..Up to the one spot we go and grab the top rated passer in the draft.

Nice post. I always love the draft even though it is, obviously, way too early to know who will be all the top prospects and which teams will be picking in the top 10. Alex Smith kind of came out of nowhere and there will be a lot of those come next April. The Dolphins will probably be around .500, which would likely put them out of the Leinhart, Jacobs range but you never know. Sounds like there are a lot of quality linebackers in the next draft and that could definitely be an area where Miami looks early. Thomas and Seau won't be around too much longer and I think a lot of the linebackers currently on the team don't fit Saban's mold for bigger players.

In the best case scenario, Carey and Feeley are more than capable and Saban can really concentrate on building a championship caliber defense.

You do realize taking a qb would be a step backwards. It will take a 2-3 for a qb to develope. Just because you draft a qb high doesn't mean they'll be a success. IMO it's not worth the risk. I mean look what's going on with Ronnie Brown. If he a bust look at the money we would have commited to him. It's just bad business.

I dont really see good qb's becoming free agents. If we need to take a chance and trade up, so be it imo. Will get nowhere with the qb's(meaning the both suck this year) that we have now. Let them come in mid season and go from there. Draft is a chance.

Well there are ways to minimize the changeover of a QB besides the draft . Lets say we can trade with the Chargers for one of their QB's. Remember if Feeley doenst win the starters position we wont be paying him the large amount of money he will make next year. Frerotte will be here next year and he could help an incoming, young, QB with his knowledge of linehan's ofense.

So you draft a qb and mid season you throw him to wolves. That's a bad idea. I know many people we say "look at Big Ben". There's a huge difference. He was succesful because the supporting cast was outstanding. He didn't win any games. He just didn't lose any. Don't get me wrong I think he did a great job. However, he walked into a great situation.

people need to remember these are based on 2004 stats. players like Leinart, and Jacobs may be competeing for the NCAA interception record this year. they could get hurt and lose the whole season to an injury. i put zero stock into these mock drafts. plus i'm a what have you done for me latly guy so i'll wait and see how they preform this year.

If he catches on, mid season I dont see why not. We have a preaty darn good situation also. Chambers/Boston/Booker/RMac/Ricky/Ronnie, and if this line does anything that is has been looking like lately, this is a very good situation for a young qb. Just my .2 sents

personally i dont want a qb like Jacobs. I would rather get a pocket passer. I just dont think sum1 like vick would utilize our wr's the way sum1 actual passing ability would. not saying he doesnt but compare his accuracy to manning's or even leinarts and i dont think it really compares.

i doubt leak will still be there in the second round

Why? He's smallish and hasn't really proven anything yet. He struggles with accuracy and decisions. Combine that with his small size and I'm not sure he is a lock for the first round due to the fact that altough a good athlete, he's not a Vick's class in athleticism or arm strength. (not many are though)

I think it's possible he could be there in the second or even third depending on how he does this year.
