First off, I am not a credited writter or anything but I do have a strong passion for the game and research it very often. Following this league is something I plan on doing for a living and here is one of my first pieces.

The team is really starting to take shape and although I'm sure there will be more players to come, I believe we have the foundation for our 2006 team.

My Power rankings

1. Pittsburgh- Despite losing key peices in Randel El, Hope and Bettis they are the defending champs. They also added Santonio Holmes a very nice addition
2. Carolina- Adding Keyshawn Johnson takes a lot of pressure off of Steve Smith and I think that's enough to get them back to the big game
3. Seattle- Can Alexander have a repeat year? No. But Matt Hasselbeck will continue to play well and Julian Peterson is a special player on defense
4. Miami- The Dolphins have had the best off-season so far. The looming question is, when will Daunte be ready? If he has a repeat performance of '04, the Dolphins will play their last game at home, in February.
5. Denver- I still question drafting Jay Cutler because I like Plummer. Jevon Walker is the reciever they were long over due to acquire. Denver will push Miami and Pittsburgh for the AFC crown.
6. Kansas City- Can you imagine what Larry Johnson would have done last year if he had started all 16 games? He could run for 2000 yards and all the way to an MVP
7. Washington- Had an off-season that was 2nd only to Miami. Added Archuleta to anchor the D and Randel El as a big play WR. They should win the NFC East with Mark Brunell as the catalyst.
8. Indianapolis- People don't realize how important Edgerin James was to that offense. They went with Joseph Addai who will be good but in time. They still make the playoffs but make little to no noise there.
9. New England- They had a good draft to reverse a bad free agent period. They lost some key guys in McGinnest, Givens and Vinatieri. But as long as Tom Brady and Bill Billichek are in town, the Pats are in the playoffs.
10. Chicago- The Bears offense was brutal last year. Was Brian Griese the answer? Although I think he wins the job, I don't think he is going to take them to the promise land. That D is scary however.
11. Dallas- Can T.O ruin a 3rd team? Not in the first year he won't. Expect the Cowboys to make the playoffs despite an aging Drew Bledsoe.
12. Jacksonville- Byron Leftwhich is back and the Jags aren't goin to win 12 games again, but look for them to push for a playoff spot.
13. N.Y Giants- Is year 3 the magic number for Eli Manning? I say no, but adding Sinorice Moss was huge along with 3 monster DEs in Strahan, Umeinyora and Kiwanuka will all help them push for a playoff spot.
14. Cincinnati- Does Carson Palmer start the season? I don't think he can and if he is a no go for any significant time, no playoffs for the Bengals.
15. Tampa Bay- Chris Simms is their guy, but will he be the one to put that team over the top? Any team with a good front 7 can shut down that offense. The Bucs offense keeps them out of the playoffs in '06.
16. San Diego- The Drew Brees era is over in San Diego. Enter Phillip Rivers. What will they get with him? I say a repeat performance of last year.
17. Cleveland- Romeo Crenel got some big time free agents this year and Kellen Winslow will be on the field. Braylon Edwards is a soon to be superstar but who is their QB? If they find one, watch out.
18. Atlanta- Michael Vick is overrated, period. I really like their defense though and that running game has a good 1-2 punch in Dunn and Ducket.
19. Philadelphia- T.O is out and Mcnabb is back. The chemistry is certainly improved but Owens is a great player and takes a lot of talent with him to Dallas.
20. Arizona- When Matt Leinart takes over, this could be the top offense in football. But Kurt Warner won't take this team anywhere and that defense is still extremly suspect.
21. Tennessee- The Titans made their biggest mistake when they passed on Leinart. Steve Mcnair may be out the door and if they think Young can start, they are out of their minds.
22. New Orleans- You have to wonder why Drew Brees wanted so much guarenteed money. Maybe that shoulder isn't as good as is being reported. Reggie Bush was a gift however and this team is defintly on the upside.
23. Minnesota- Daunte Culpepper for a 2nd rounder? The Vikings should turn in Nick Saban for theft because they got robbed. Brad Johnson is not going to take this team any where.
24. St. Louis- Bulger is healthy and the Rams will be better than their 5-11 mark last year but still are no where near the playoffs.
25. Baltimore- If they get Mcnair and Jamal Lewis returns to form, this team could be good. But that's too many if's to get them out of the bottom 10.
26. Houston- They stock piled OLineman in the draft and missed out on Bush which they will regret. But this team only progresses from last season.
27. Green Bay- Defense was the key in the draft and Green Bay did a good job of that. Not to mention #4 is back and Charles Woodson signed on.
28. Buffalo- A very werid draft and no QB means a miserable season for Bills fans.
29. N.Y Jets- Bolstering the O-Line in the draft was very noteable. Eric Mangini is still in for a long first year.
30. Detroit- When will this team finally get turned around? Josh McCown and Jon Kitna are not the answers, another horrid year for Millen and crew.
31. Oakland- Aaron Brooks couldn't get it done in New Orleans. What makes Al Davis think he will turn it around in Oakland?
32. San Fransisco- Alex Smith gets beat up real bad and will force San Fransisco into winning the Brady Quinn sweepstakes next year

Nice.
Here's my top 10:

Wow, a phin fan and you only put Miami as #4?

KC still is really suspect on Defense and really doesn't have that great wide out. Other than that the Colts Denver and Bengals will be better than the phins more than likely.

I really don't think that the Bengals will return to the playoffs this year. You saw how bad they were when Palmer wasn't in the lineup and I really don't think he will be ready before the first month. You have to win 10 maybe 11 games in the AFC and can't afford any set backs.

I agree with Cincy, IF Palmer is healthy. Agree with Denver. Not so sure about Indy. Edge James kept defenses honest against Peyton. I dont see them being as good this year without Edge. He did everthing as a RB and his ability to run, block, and catch, really opened up their offense and allowed them to only have him alone in the backfield. And I disagree with KC. Their defense is just too questionable and they lost Al Saunders at OC. However Larry Johnson will still be the #1 RB taken on my fantasy team..... if possible.

Interesting. I think Dallas will be better than both of them and Philly doesnt have 11 starters on IR this year.

He put the Dolphins ahead of teams that actually made the playoffs?

Come on?

The Colts will always be a contender. May never win a Super Bowl, but they will contend.

Denver got the playoffs, played really well at home and made it past round 1, yet the 9-7 Dolphins are ahead of them?

Dolphins ahead of NE? Crazy.

Dolphins should be around 15 or so. They did well last year, beat a bunch of 4-X teams towards the end, but the question is can they repeat that performance and actually make it to the playoffs?

Don't be bitter man. First off, personel moves do mean something. If the Fins would have had a healthy Daunte last year, they would have easily won 12 games. The Fins were in every game and lost a few of them simply because of bad quarterback play.

Name one player the Dolphins lost this off-season. The most significant is Lance Schulters (not counting Ricky). Look at who the Pats lost. McGinnest, Vinatieri and Givens. Those are all huge peices of their sucess.

To say the Fins should be at 15 would mean that you think they will be 8-8 or so. That in itself is just ridiculous. You're opinion is so scewed because you are a Jets fan. But I would be bitter too, if I knew my team was going to win a combined 20 games over the next 5 years.

I say swap Indy and Miami. First of all, we dont even know if culpepper will be back by week 1. It ALL depends on culpepper. Second, our secondary is weak. We have Jason Allen, who probably won't have much of an impact until the middle of the season, and thats IF he starts. Will Allen is good, but not as good as Madison was, so thats a downgrade. Daniels fits the system, so hes ok. Third of all, our offensive line still isnt great. Ferrotte got sacked 26 times, and many of those were almost game-deciding sacks. Year by year it gets better...but how good is it now? BUT, overall, we own. So I think rank 9 would be good. 4 is just too much of a stretch.

Also, I think you really underestimated the Packers. Last year they were killed by injuries. Favre was practically playing with the backup team. With like a 4th string runningback. Now on defense they have Woodson, Hawk, and hodge. They'll be ALOT better. Plus they can make the playoffs, just look at their schedule, its hella easy.

First off, Indy lost their key player in James. He did a lot more than people think for the Colts.
Secondly, yeah our secondary was bad last year but haven't you noticed it's all new faces back there? Will Allen is a big upgrade over Madison who was old and could no longer cover #1's. Renaldo Hill will play a big role this year and a healthy Will Poole helps big time too.
You mentioned the O-Line being bad but we were something like 4th in sacks allowed in 2005. I think your image of the team is way off at this point.

You are off on many points.

- Nobody had a healthy Dante last year and you still don't have a healthy Dante.

- To say that Ricky and Lance (Madison?) were not losses is a little strange.

- Ranking them has nothing to do with what I think thier season will be like. I say 15 in "Power Rakings" but they could easily do better than last year.

Keep in mind, the last 5-6 wins last year, after starting 3-7 came against horrible teams (Jets included).

KC isn't good.Ok, they are fun to watch, but their defense is terrible and they just lost a great coach. They had the same record as Miami last year, even with Gus Ferrotte. Take Denver from their house and they are average. Jake always chokes in the playoffs. Denver falls flats own their face once they face a good team.Just look when they played Miami and Pittsburgh. The Colts is the one team I would love to play in the playoffs.Once you get them down, you have a huge advantage. Their defense is made for when Indy is up. The Bengals are the only good playoff team you put up their. It your going to make a case against Miami, at least use some good teams.

The 2004 Daunte who when healthy had one of the best seasons by a quarterback ever but was overshadowed by Peyton Mannings gaudy year.

- To say that Ricky and Lance (Madison?) were not losses is a little strange.

Each of those losses is made better by who is replacing them. Jason Allen will come in and play free safety. As good as Madison was as a Dolphin for all those years, he was bad last year. He can no longer play at an elite level, for crying out loud WE CUT HIM. Ricky is a big loss and I'll be the first to admit that. I just don't think we suffer that bad because he was only our backup. Ronnie will do more than just fine.

Keep in mind, the last 5-6 wins last year, after starting 3-7 came against horrible teams (Jets included).

No win in the NFL is an easy one. Keep in mind we knocked off Denver and Carolina early in the year (2 teams who were in the championship game.) We also beat good teams in San Diego and New England. People say yeah it was agianst the Pats' scrubs but if you saw that game, the Fins dominated those first few series with the Pats' starters in.

I still don't see Dolphins being a top 4 power rankings based on what you have done in the off season.

Dolphins issues:
- Older 'core' defense (Zach and Jason are not getting any younger)
- Hurt QB (know that well)
- #1 pick hurt (coming off injury)
- Loss a RB (good for moral, bad for yds)

Again, ranking the Dolphins higher than a few of those other teams is crazy. But hey, this is the land of crazy.
