QB:

In 2006 our Quarterback for 75% of the season was Joey Harrington and it is safe to say that the H inHarrington stands for horrible. The guy just doesn't have the "it" that you need to be a succesful NFL Quarterback. The first 4 games Daunte Culpepper started but it was more than obvious that he was nowhere near the same QB that he was once do to the fact that he was nowhere near healthy. In the season finale Cleo lemon took the helm nd though it was obvious that it was his first NFL start, there was much of an excitment in the air. In 2007 we should expect much improved QB play. Whether Trent Green or Daunte Culpepper is the starter, the position should be much improved. Trent green is a solid QB in the league and at times spectacular. I know that he is no spring chicken but with that siad he could defiantly give us two eyars as the starting while John Beck develops. Culpepper on the other hand should be much healthier taking into consideration that his knee has had time to heal. John Beck was a steal in the 2nd round and has the poise, arm, and brain to be a very succesful QB in the NFL. Cleo Lemon is the best 3rd string QB in the league and is a smart player.

RB: The last game of the season we saw Ronnie Brown could be an impact player in the league. He was running jets over up and down the field. I think he improves more than anyone on the team and thrives under the Cam Cameron system. We are better at this position because Lorenzo Booker was drafted in the 3rd round who is a great pass catcher and change of pace back. If Ricky Williams returns to the team as the backup we wuld have upgrade here morethan any position. Cory Schlesinger is a great fullback and should open holes larger than Jenna Jamesons' for Ronnie to run through.

TE: This position is up in the air and it comes down to Randy McMichael vs. David Martin. Though the first impression that we have downgraded drastically but I don't know. McmIchael was so inconsistent and may have lead the league in drops. I liked McMike but don't know if releasing him was a bad move what so ever. David Martin is an underrated pass catcher and could thrive in our system. He had a pretty redicolous TD against us last year.

OL: Damien MacIntosh, Bennie Anderson, and Jeno James are gone . Thank God. Are we better, we shall see. I belive so. Chris Lewinski is a solid player and he and Joe Toledo should fight for a starting position. Rex Hadnot and Samson Satale should acquire starting roles for the rest of the interior line . Vernon Carey and LJ Shelton will be the tackles; Carey has more experience under his belt and hopefully will pan out. He became a premier right tackle in his years with the Fins. Anthony Alabi, Mike Rosenthal, and Drew Mormino woill provide much needed depth. the jury is out but by addint a talent like Samson Satale, the O-Line should get more push this year and be more effective than in the past.

WR: The position as a whole will improve with consistency at the QB position. Chambers should bounce back and have a great season and Marty Booker should remain as a solid # 2. Reports indicate that Derek Hagan has been a man on a mission and has shown great improvement. Kelly Campbell and Az Hakim are fighting for the 5th and final roster spot. Ted Ginn Jr. will be an immeadiate impact player and will benefit the team at both receiver and as a returner. Ginn can stretch the field and has the unbelievable speed to open up the passing games for Booker and Chambers. iami Dolphin fans will regret the day they booed Tedd Ginn Jr as this guy will be a special player in the league.

Defense: Our defense as a whole should be even better than what we were last year. That's scary considering we were the #4 ranked Defense in the league last year. Joey porter will bee an emmotional leader as well as an impact player. Jason Allen should push for a starting spot at one of our corner positions. Matt roth will be an upgrade over Kevin Carter at the other end position.

11-5 here we come

good post.... as for the record i was thinking maybe around 8-10 wins but hey thats my opininon and that is yours, i respect it and hopefuly your right.

Wait a second..... Not to mention that Jerkoff Saban will not make the Offensive calls anymore neither him nor Mularkey, God the are so stupid!!!!

Not sure how Beck was such a steal since he was projected to go in the second round and as for Cleo Lemon being the best third stringer in the NFL, I would take Kyle Orton any day over him. He got slung into a fire with an offensive deficient team as a rookie but has alot of good skills that should make a solid QB. Never have seen the fascination with Cleo Lemon at any level.

Kevin Carter has almost 100 career sacks and has been to a Pro Bowl. Matt Roth is unproven.

Roth has shown what he can do when he's on the field.
He improved alot last year.

KC was getting old and he costs $$$.
"Roth will be the reason I retire", thats high praise for such an "unproven player"

Well, that is the overly optimistic way of looking at things. Here is how I think this years team stacks up against last years.

QB - Yes, the QB play was awful last year but there are absolutely no reasons why it would be better next year either. Culpepper still isn't 100% and may not even be on the opening day roster. Trent Green isn't on the roster now and considering his age, concussion, and poor peformance last year, I wouldn't expect him to salvage this mess should we get him. Cleo Lemon should be better with another year of experience, but I don't see him turning this offense around. Beck won't make a difference this year, and was far from a "steal" in the second round, more like a reach considering he was a second day prospect two months ago.

RB - Too hard to tell if we've improved with the Ricky situation still unresolved, but it looks like he won't be here next year. That leaves us with a fragile RB with a rookie behind him. Sammy Morris was a real underrated player IMO, hopefully letting him go wasn't a mistake. This group is no better than last years, if not worse.

OL - Again way too hard to determine considering the starting lineup is still up in the air. We got rid of a lot of guys who weren't well thought of around here and replaced them with guys who weren't well thought of elsewhere. Satele should immediately help, but this group is no better than last years starting group.

TE - David Martin is a major question mark. If he can stay healthy, there is no reason he shouldn't put up 40+ catches, but that is a big if. McMichael may have worn out his welcome here, but the guy was dependable for decent stats each year and is a better blocker than Martin is. As of now this looks like a clear downgrade, but Martin's pass catching does intrigue me.

WR - This group should be slightly better than it was last year simply with the addition of a burner in Ginn. Chambers should remain the biggest tease in the NFL, and Booker putting up another solid, yet underappreciated season. Hagan should be better with another year of coaching.

D - The defense is not going to be better than it was last year. The secondary is in shambles right now, and was crying out for help through the draft. Our key players in the front seven are a year older. Porter has started to enter the downside of his career and I wouldn't expect him to make another pro-bowl. The success really depends on how well unproven players can step up (Roth, Soliai, anyone in the secondary)

Still too many question marks to having a winning season IMO. If all goes well, I say 9 wins tops, but more like 5-8.

We went from overly optimistic (agreed) to overly pessimistic.

QB - I agree that it's a huge question mark.

RB - I'll take speed, moves, and catching ability (Booker) over Sammy Morris in a heartbeat. Rookie RB's usually make the most impact of any position. Ronnie's got another year of seasoning and hopefully is being coached a little better by Cam. If he gets hurt and Ricky's not here then all bets are off.

OL - Agree that we lost underperformers but replaced them with question marks and nothing spectacular.

TE - push due to McMike's drops

WR - Addition of Ginn and Hagan in second year along with Cam calling the plays can only improve this unit

D - I thought they should have drafted CB also, but I don't know where you get "shambles". Rumor is that Jason Allen could do well at corner (he certainly couldn't contribute less than last year). Capers has supposedly simplified the defensive back calls to make things easier and the guys have a year under there belt of playing with each other. Then in the front seven you have the addition of Porter and the potential emergence of Evans, Roth, or Soliai. Put it all together and the defense should be slightly improved in my opinion.

if jason allen has any kind of a decent season, our defense should be really good... top 5 in the league just like last year. the addition of porter as our only big free-agent signing is going to help this defense.

porter is the kind of player who will help out JT and zach in the locker room. he's won a championship and will definitely help the morale of those 2... convinve them to play lights out for a couple more years.

If you look at all the drafts Shula made, he only had a handful of impact players. Most were busts. But he only had two losing seasons out of 26 seasons. I think that speaks volumes about how well the Phins were coached. I think that will return Cam. 10-6 in 2007. Playoffs in 2008.
Super Bowl in 2009. Go Phins.

He was projected to go in the second but there were teams sniffing around before our pick. Detroit was going to, traded out (because they thought he would be there later), then was miffed when we took him. Dallas really liked Beck, but wouldn't take him at 22 and didn't want Quinn. Thank god Phily didn't like Quinn.

But we won't know he was a steal until he plays. Did anyone say Zach was a steal when he was drafted? Doubt it. Did anyone think Tom Brady was a steal at first? Doubt it. Sometimes there are steals when someone obviously slips big time. WE THINK we got one is Soliai.

I am excited about our WR's this year. Chambers, Booker, Hagan, Ginn. With effective OL and QB play this should be a very solid unit.

If the offense can someone function well enough to be ranked in the top half of the league and not turn the ball over that should put the fins in good position towards the end of the season to make a push for the playoffs

500 at best. Anyone thinking ten or over wins is a homer and shouldn't be taken serious.

I just hope we "actually" develope some players. Mainley Beck.

I think the defense will be improved.

DL - Carter was very solid but Roth seems to be ready to take over. Carter was the one that said that Roth would push him out and he was right. Push.

Traylor should get spelled by Evans and Soliai which should keep him fresh going into the second half of the season. Wilkinson was solid as a backup last year, but it looks like his playing days are over. I don't know an inexperienced Soliai can play as well as old big daddy. DOWNGRADE for 2007.

LB - Crowder and Zach are still anchoring their spots so that's a push.
Porter vs. Spragan? UPGRADE

CB - Daniels is back healthy, J. Allen has been moved to his more natural position at CB, and Worrell has been added for depth to safety spot. I'm thinking better production out of our secondary. UPGRADE

I think the offense will be improved over last year.

QB - Who knows? I think we've upgraded with Beck but it will take a couple years to get the production. for 2007 PUSH.

RB's - Morris was a dependable backup and Minor was good S/T player. Ricky won't be back. Booker has his work cut out to replace Minor and Morris on S/T's but should add explosiveness to the offense. PUSH.

Shlesinger and Mauia will add real lead blockers and will be an better than Morris and Barnes. UPGRADE

WR - Ginn Jr. - adds another dimension to the offense and S/T's but will he be more productive in his first year than Welker was last year, probably. Hagan should improve in his second year. UPGRADE.

OL - Still a problem this year IMO. Carey is unproven at LT, Shelton is unproven at tackle period. Toledo, Alabi and Rosenthal can't stay healthy. We better hope Julius Wilson is all he's cracked up to be, a steal. We should have left Carey at LT and left McIntosh at RT. Lots of beef in the middle with Satele, Ingram and Esara. BIG UPGRADE at C AND OG, SLIGHT DOWNGRADE at OT. Overall a slight UPGRADE.

TE - Martin vs. McMichael? DOWNGRADE.

Cameron calling the offense vs. Mularkey. UPGRADE!!!!!

IMO, the biggest difference will be the design of the offense and the playcalling. Cam will put the players in chances to make plays and will result in more big plays and more points.

So there you have it. I think we improve slightly on both offense and defense. I'm predicting 8-8.
