2007 defensive line rotation

I think it's time to get younger. Roth, Evans, R Wright, M Wright, and Vickerson all have shown promise to get in the rotation.

Traylor had a fantastic year last year and I would like to see him come back for one last hurrah. However, his ability to stay injury-free at his advanced age is a question.

Closed End: Roth starter. Backup Carter.

DT: Manny Wright (if he comes in shape and committed), R Wright and Vickerson compete.

NT Traylor. Backup: Evans (needs more mass). Manny can fill in here.

Open end: Taylor and D Bowens (bring back)

Gone: Zgonina and Holliday. I hate to see Holliday go, but I think we need to spend money elsewhere. I would toy with dumping Carter's bloated $6.5 cap figure. But losing others makes that a risk.

I think if we dont resign Holliday Rod Wright will start over Manny at DT, this guy was a projected 1 round pick until it was reveled that he had the shoulder problem at the combine, he should definitly be a starter and a steal for us

i think the writing is on the wall for carter...6.5 million and roth has taken most of his 1st and second down snaps already...

I think we can get holliday back at an OK price, but if he bolts it's not a big issue...Rod wright is perfect for holliday's DT position.

I have no faith in manny...if he can help us:great. But we CANNOT rely on him.

I think traylor is done...he did come on strong, but thats because we extensivly rested him at practice, and limited his game snaps.

Wilkinson was not impressive and may also be a cap casualty...

Zgonina offers flexabilty, but not excellent play. He can play all the positions on the line, but not at a very high level.

Vickerson needs to get on the field...

I expect good things this year from roth. he has shown to be a good run defender for 2 years and is now starting to show power, and technique in his pass rushing. This could be a breakout year for him.

We seem to be so well stocked in the DL, why not trade a couple of these guys and get some more DPs? But I agree, we need to infuse the youth, Saban didn't have the balls to do it.
