I heard that somebody was picking on a Patriots fan and Patriots fan replied, "I got to enjoy 18 wins this season. How many did you get?"

This got me thinking. If the Dolphins could have had the 18-1 season, with the same Superbowl loss, would you take it over the 1-15 season?

Two very opposite ends of the spectrum, but both resulting in deep disappointment.

I think I would stick with the season we had. Not even factoring in draft implications, I think 1-15 is a little easier to manage. Yeah, we were disappointed almost every week, and losing depressed the hell out of us. But think how much we enjoyed that 1 win. Plus, from here there is nowhere to go but up. The Patriot fan's expectations were built up so high over the year, only to come crashing down at the worst possible time. That type of disappointment never goes away.

So where do you stand? Would you rather have gotten to enjoy those 18 wins and still take solace in an amazing yet unfinished season? Or would you rather enjoy one win and be able to look forward to an almost guaranteed improved next season?

Patriots season because it was still one of the greatest sports seasons ever. Plus we still have the 72 team that's undefeated.

What year are we talking about here???? I will take the 1972 season.

Ohhh ok, I would take a 1-15 year over 18-1...cuz we did not CHOKE. :woot:

This year, I would sacrifice a 1-15 season to see the Pats got 18-0 just to lose the superbowl. Their loss took alot of pain from me in our 1-15 season... Next year, I wouldnt mind at all if we went 18-0 and lost the bowl. That would tell us we are onthe right track and most likely would have a great chance to repeat the next year.

FYI-I wasnt the one who voted for the Dolphins on the poll.

i would have much rather have been 1-15 than to win every game and not the big one. that has to be one of the worse feelings for the paties faithful. being 1-15 we didn't have all this build up, for nothing! Not winning the super bowl made their season completely worthless.

thanks for posting this i wanted to see how everyone else felt about this.

We had just as much biuld-up not to go winless as the ratiots had to go undefeated and the same chance as well to go winless as the ratriots had to go undefeated and I dont even want to go through a 1-15 season again. Your telling me you enjoyed losing all those games every week... It is easy to say that at the end of the season when it is over, but i think your tune would change if we were midseason and discussing this

Of course midseason would be different because you wouldn't know the end result.

I think there are many different factors at play here. With our season, we got to end on an up note. The Patriots ended on a serious down note. And it all depends on how that 1 win against Baltimore felt to you. For me, to go through those 13 losses in a row and completely forget what winning felt like, and to then have that feeling come rushing back suddenly in an overtime win...I mean, I hadn't cheered that hard since I was 10 years old cheering for Dan Marino. The only type of win I can imagine feeling better than that would be a Superbowl win, which the Patsies didn't have.

The one big reason I would not want to endure a season like the pats did is because of spygate. I would of been ashamed to call myself a fan and openly support a team that so brazenly scoffed at everyone else. I would never support that kind of thing and if it happened in miami I would distance myself from them.

So I guess my answer to your question is I dont want either season. You can keep them both. This season was terrible for me week after week, even our 1 win we should not of won. We stunk it up worse then I have ever seen.

At the end of the day both teams are in the same position in regards to the season: Not Super Bowl champs.

I'd rather go 1-15 when no one expected anything from the team that much than go 18-1 and lose the most important game of the season when it was virtually a given that 19-0 was to be.

The crash after the Bowl was exceptionally hard on the Pats fans... We got numb and really didn't feel the pain of losing as much. The Pats fans went from a record high and then crashed and burned...

IMO.

OMG ... are you people serious?

1-15 sucked arse!
18-1 is infinately better!

I look at it this way:

There have been three 18-1 teams in the history of the NFL.

Only one has lost the Super Bowl.

That's huge.

...and we are not the only 1-15 team ever, either.

The ramifications of going undefeated into the SuperBowl and losing are mindboggling. This is historic and legendary choking. Once in a century type of choke. I would rather be 0-16 than to be forever remembered as the team who blew the undefeated season in the SuperBowl. The whole franchise now has that label -- forever. It will never go away. Who's going to remember 1-15 in two years? Now if the question was simply lose a SuperBowl or 1-15 then I would take the SuperBowl loss but if its losing an undefeated season in the SuperBowl there is nothing, nothing worse than that. They will suffer their entire lives with that memory. It will endure into old age. Their children will be ragged. Just wait, the legacy of the Patriots three SB victories will be completely overshadowed by the one that got away

lol i would take a 1-15 season than a 18-1(loss in the superbowl)season, because it would hurt a lot more and worse than only winning one game
