2007 Draft Character Risks

The one that sticks out the most would probably be Eric Wright. He should have been in Jail for a long time for the 136 ecstasy pills.

He might have got 3 months in jail with probation and maybe house arrest...I like Eric Wright..Reminds me alot like Pat Surtain.

Theres a possibility that a couple of these guys might be drafted by us...Every1 deserves a 2nd chance and most of the guys have been clean since.
 
Marcus Thomas is the ultimate risk-reward pick. If he can stay clean and get it together, I think he will be an absolute force at the next level. But he could just as easily be a waste of a pick if he can't put down the reefer.
 
hey these guys are 1st/2nd round talents...who will go later. Ill take Marcus Thomas, Eric Wright, and Nate Harris anyday if they fall. why not? they are big talents, but will fall because of character....let our coaches get them in shape

Yeah that always works so well ....

TBH none of those guys with the exception of Merriweather is worth more than a 5th to me. Merri's "issues" seem rather forced imo, defending during a robbery and then participating in that massive brawl dont seem to be to major.

However, drug use, sexual assaults etc are not things to be taken lightly or things that should be "an easy fix" or "definately worth the risk."

All to often these drug violence issues seem to mean more than playing football, and for that reason I wouldnt be dropping anything of value on them. Do people deserve a second chance? Yes they do, but not when its a huge risk to us (IE spending a 2nd-3rd or even 4th). To many guys who just cant get away from it for me to value them highly.
 
What do you mean they need a 2nd chance ? We gave that to Cecil (the diesel) Collins and look what happened.. That guy had mega talent too, was picked later in the draft , and screwed up bigtime by breaking into someone's apartment trying to seduce someone's wife into screwing him ..

Well, he got screwed majorly when he was arrested and put in jail.

The Vikings also gave Randy Moss a second chance.
 
I would say the Vikings did just fine with Randy Moss for what was it say seven years, unbelievable production, and the 7th overall pick and competent linebacker coming their way. Their problem they blew it.
 
Eric Wright has been exemplary since leaving USC though. What more can the guy do to deserve a second chance? I'd take him late.

If he would have had a twentieth of the interceptions as he had ectasy he might have been worth the #60, but he had 0 interceptions last year. Let somebody else take a chance on this loser.

Jonathan Wade in the second round sounds much better.
