If Brady Quinn ends up going ahead of the Dolphins at #9, I think that Miami would use their first two draft picks much the same way that the Jets did last year.

In 2006, the Jets took Ferguson & Mangold and have really upgraded their OL for the forseeable future. I can see Miami taking Levi Brown and Ryan Kalil (even if they have to trade up to do so). This would do a couple of things:

First, it would enable Miami to shift Rex Hadnot to LG and give us a opening day lineup of: L. Brown, R. Hadnot, Kalil, LJ Shelton, & V. Carey.

Second, Miami would be set at the two most important spots along the OL for 10 years...LT & C.

The more I think about it, this would be a great option should Quinn elude us in late April.

It'd be nice, but I can't see Kalil being there at #40. More likely a G like Blaylock would be there at #40 or Sears who might be able to play both G and tackle. I'm still hoping for Alleman at #60 though, and McCauley at #40 if we don't get a DB in round 1.

I wouldn't mind that at all. I was very envious of the jets draft last year, and I knew they were doing the right thing in getting those guys. I wasn't that surprised to see the jets as successful as they were last year. Obviously, Brown and Kalil are no Ferguson and Mangold, but they're certainly better than what we've got now. Our o-line is the only thing that needs immediate improvement, although we'd be wasting another opportunity to get a significant playmaker like Ted Ginn.

I'm a little spooked by Ted Ginn...WR's are so risky that high. My ideal direction at #9 is (in this order)...
Brady Quinn
Levi Brown
Alan Branch
Jamaal Anderson

Any one of these guys would make us all very happy in Miami-land!

Good call. I said the other day that we should follow the Jets 2006 draft blueprint. Everything starts upn front, and the OL is clearly our biggest weakness....

I would be very happy if Mueller / Cameron go all out OL with the first 2-3 picks this year. We must solidify the OL this year, and there's no better way of doing than through the draft in my opinion....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

i would love to see us draft Brown in the first , McCauley at #40 and then another oline men with the #60 pick. Blaylock or Staele the center from hawaii. I think that would be great. Then with the 3rd rounder pick up a WR or BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE.A draft like that would be the best thing for us i think.

We need a Speedy WR and KR

Has anyone realized that with Welker gone we have nobody to return kicks? We need a SPEEDY reciever and a threat to return kicks. Im not saying Ginn Jr. is who we should take but is there someone (And not just anyone)we could get in the 2nd or 3rd round to do these things if we dont take Ginn Jr.

Too high for Brown IMO...Branch doesnt play with a high motor and is very inconsistant at times for the #9 too...and Anderson is too smallish for DE in our 3-4 scheme and #9 is too high for him as well IMO.

If Quinn isnt there, and we dont draft Landry, or a CB, then i would rather us trade down and get those players you mentioned.

I very much doubt Blalock will be available with our second rounder. He's a solid guard/tackle prospect much like Vernon Carey was when he was drafted. Blalock is a first rounder, 20-25 range.

Either way I like the idea of following the Jets plan, we should draft OL with our first 2-3 picks. We must get some playmakers on the OL and the draft is the best place to do it. Great thread, 5 stars from me.

Wouldnt be a bad draft at all if we could mimick the jets sucess. I really feel we are in a great position to have an awesome draft this year. Especially if Quinn isnt there, and we possibly trade a few spots down, thereby picking up an extra 2nd.

I totally forgot about Landry....need to get some coffee!

I agree, Landry would be a great pick at #9 as well!

Man I really, really, want an offensive stud like Quinn early on...but if one isnt available, and probably wont be, then we need to either trade out or draft the best player if he is that much better rated. Landry would fit that bill to a T.

I think that would be terrible. The Dolphins need better skill position players. Trading up for a center! Terrible idea. Also, who's to say that those rookies will even start .

If Quinn isn't available, or maybe even if he is, the Dolphins should select the BPA, and I doubt that player is Levi Brown.
