2007 Salary Cap

i just pray that welker is re-signed by us!!!

I agree that extending Welker is a must-do. I would also like to see us keep Lemon and Bell.

I believe that Zach and Jason will restructure their contracts to stay with the team so that will free up more cap room and give us some buying power the FA market.

Restructuring usually means pushing out the cap hit into later years. We've got to stop doing that with Zack and Jason, especially considering they're entering their final years.

After reading that article, I don't think Carter will be back next season. $6.5 million for Carter when you have Matt Roth waiting in the wings makes no sense.

Yeah, I also dont think Zach Thomas will be here either. I think that Crowder will be moved to MLB, Pope moved over to WLB, and Adalius Thomas signed to play the SLB.

does anyone know what the cap hit becomes if a player retires? because that would have a lot of bearing on what happens with ZT and JT. on that i think we should keep both, gonna be hard to replace them. also, bring back Bell and Welker for sure, cant let those guys go.

Carter will take a pay cut to come back. His contract was pretty much a two-year deal with a bunch of funny money at the end.

Since we have a little breathing room with the cap, we ought not do anything with Jason Taylor's contract, and the only restructuring we ought to consider with Zach Thomas will be to see if he is willing to convert some of his base salary to incentives.

Does anyone know Daunte's salary status for 2007? I know he restructured for us in 2006, and his base salary was real low, like $1M. But, I know he's got a huge contract, so at some point, his salary needs to skyrocket.

Daunte doesn't have that bad of a contract actually...

there are alot of people to cut and free up some cap room
