i don't buy it. If Miami got to redraft Parcells is so damn stubborn he would have taken cornfed again even knowing what he does now. The only way Miami would redraft Ryan would be if the person in charge was a do over as well.
This wasn't that far removed from the Jamarcus Russell disaster in Oakland. The Big Tuna apparently had Ireland, Henning and Sparano run private sessions with Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco and Chad Henne. They came back with the unanimous answer that the difference between the 3 was very small and so the call was made to take Jake Long as the safe pick, because we also needed a RT to protect the QB. Remember this was before the reduction in the payment to rookies in the collective bargaining agreement, so there was very high risk.
Big Tuna was scared sh**less of another Jamarcus Russell and when the Three Stooges returned saying Henne was as good as the other guys, he was just following their collective recommendation. He valued Dan Henning's judgement most of all and Henne got the unanimous star of approval.
I meant Chad Pennington as a leader, not henne, my bad.Chad Henne has never been a good qb and none of us really know what kind of a leader they are. The players that play with them would know
I am not sure how Ryan is that different from Jake Long. I think Jake went to three straight Pro Bowls in his first three years. I don't think Ryan has won a playoff game in his career. Ryan is an average QB with very good receivers.http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...nfl-draft-doover-miami-dolphins-get-matt-ryan
1. Miami Dolphins
Pick: Jake Long
Do-Over: Matt Ryan
Comment: Given another chance to select a franchise quarterback over the "best player available," Bill Parcells would definitely take the signal caller in Miami. Ryan has been a standout performer since entering the league. Most important, he has consistently guided his team into the postseason with his steady hand at the position.
Flacco over Ryan any day
Based on what? Lmfao
Ryan's had 2 top 10 big 6'3 wr's in roddy and Julio, the greatest pass catching tight end of all time and before this year he wasn't sacked more then 28 times (twice he had under 20 times sacked) and a decent run game. Still despite all those he hasn't really done anything amazing. He's a good qb but tannehill is much more mobile and can be just as good of a passer (in my opinion) if given protection. If you think Matt Ryan would do anywhere close to what he did on the dolphins then I'd say you don't understand football very well.
Flacco over Ryan any day
Flacco was pretty damn horrid last year. In reality he had a great run the superbowl year , but he didn't carry that team much like most qb's don't carry their team.
I for one wouldn't take Flacco over Ryan, Qbs get so overrated when their team wins a superbowl.
58 percent completion rate, 1190 yards passing, 11 TDs and 0 picks in the playoffs during that Super Bowl. I say Flacco did carry his team when it mattered most...something that Matt Ryan fails to do when the games matter the most.
